Cold Weather Still Brings

Good Fishing

Despite weather changes, anglers still reporting success!

What a week of weather!  Despite the fronts, anglers caught fish.  Some anglers say fishing affected by weather, others say it didn't matter.  Success in depths of 27 - 34' of water.  Anglers who are portable doing morning/evening bite in 15 - 20' and catching fish.  Best colors, gold, glow red, pink and orange.  A few anglers in sleeper houses reporting some action after sun sets.  Jigging line in one hole with dead stick and live minnow 6" off bottom in other.

Anglers fishing the Rainy River around Baudette and Clementson reporting morning/evening bite. Walleyes being caught near airport, Baudette Bay, Hattie's Hole and Clementson Bay.  19-21' most consistent.  Pike active in bays.

Up at the NW Angle, resorts still on walleyes.  Nice bite continues, 23-28'.  Most resorts fishing golden triangle, near Oak Island, Little Oak, etc.  Also reports of big crappies for portable anglers working with resorts going into Ontario waters.

Plan on a Fish Fry!

A
tradition up at Lake of the Woods are the fish frys.  Come up and experience world class fishing "just like the good old days" and celebrate after with a great meal of fresh walleyes and sauger.

Some groups use the fish cleaning houses at the resort they are staying at to clean their catch.  Others let the guides do the cleaning.

As far as the fish fry, cook your own in your cabin or have a resort cook them for you.  Many resorts will cook up your fresh catch with all the sides we have come to love with a fish fry.   Click Here for info on Resorts at Lake of the Woods.
