Boats rule, dudes!!! Oh yeah. Who doesn’t love to get out on their boat and land a few jillion fish? Well, I’m sure there are some, but not anyone I would call a friend.

Anyhoo, the President of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), Thom Dammrich, loves boats and digs a little fishing, too. He’s the cat that leads the charge to promote all things boat related in the USA.

Dammrich is often meeting with folks from Congress, regional and international government officials and various marine manufacturers from around the USA and the world promoting the rights of boaters and the manufacturers and preaching the gospel of the joy of boating.

So what the heck is he doing here at BassFIRST? Well, he toughened his resolve and overcame his fear to take on the challenge of Three Questions from BassFIRST!

DL – What is your fantasy fishing destination?

TD – There are so many amazing places to fish and boat all over the world. For me, I think Florida. Specifically, the Florida Keys. Some of the best fishing in the world is available there and it is just beautiful. I recently was set up to go on a fishing trip out of Key West, Florida with Mike Nussman from the American Sportfishing Association (ASA).  Never happened. Terrible weather blew through and it was cancelled. I was so disappointed.

DL – Speed or comfort when you are boating?

TD – I like comfort and relaxation when I’m boating. When I’m on a boat somewhere, all of my problems on land seem to disappear. All I’m thinking about then is the boat, the water and the people I am sharing the experience with.

DL – Do you prefer steak or dessert?

TD – Steak. A good steak is like dessert. I love it. My favorite is a Kobe steak in Japan. However, it’s not usually available and it’s not really affordable. Something similar would be Wagyu beef. Again, not always around or affordable.

My favorite steak that most people can get is something like a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse New York strip. Mmmm. Hot and sizzling with all of the melted butter. It’s so good.
