Talking about favorite things is always fun. We all have varied tastes and desires and likes that sharing our favorite things is always interesting.

Especially interesting to us fishing fanatics are what the pros of our favorite sport (fishing, duh) keep in their favorites file. This edition of Three Favorites features iconic bass pro, former Bassmaster Angler of the Year, and Bassmaster Classic   champion, Mike Iaconelli.

DL – What is your favorite vacation?

MI – I’ve been on a lot of good ones over the years. I’d say at the top of my list would be the Poconos (Pocono Mountains) in Pennsylvania.

I grew up for 6 years in Philly, and then 6 years right outside of Philly. The Poconos are a little paradise just a few hours outside of Philly.

My family would fish for panfish, catfish, bass, trout… anything that would bite.

I remember all school year I’d say to myself, “Come on June and get here!” I wanted to go and figure out those bass.

DL – What is your favorite childhood memory?

MI – There are so many, but this one has to do with fishing. It was going to a place me and my friends could fish from all year. It was within walking distance from where we all lived. We called it “Bare Ass Beach”.

It was a little point and beach deal. It was on Timber Creek, a tributary of the Delaware River. It would take me and my friends 15 or maybe 20 minutes to walk there.

We’d spend the day catching bass, cats, everything that swam off that beach. It was awesome.

I’m still really good friends with those guys, very tight.

DL – What is your favorite hamburger?

MI – I’ve had some good ones traveling all over. I’m gonna say, even though I’m a Jersey guy, an In-N-Out Burger. I don’t get to travel west to fish a lot, but when I do, I look for those places. They are always so good.

I’m pretty simple on the burger too. Usually just a plain cheeseburger, of course some sauces at times. I have that burger and I’m a happy camper.
