Location: Rhinelander | Mercury Pro Bill Sutton took the title at the Lake City National Walleye Tour tournament with a total weight of 46.58 for cash and prizes worth over $70,000.00. Sutton bested second place finisher Jeremy Wildeman by a quarter of a pound in a dramatic finish on stage at Lake City Marina. Terry Hora took the co-angler title.
In third was Jermey Evans, fourth Jarrad Fluekiger, and rounding out the top five was John Gillman.
The weather held all day with overcast and some wind, and the walleyes responded well to pretty much every presentation in the book. Buffalo Slough produced a number of the big fish in wood, current seams, and other structural elements. Willow cats, big chubs, crawlers, Berkley GULP!, and crankbaits were all mentioned, as were depths of 3' to 35'.
The largest crowd WalleyeFIRST has seen in years attended the weigh in, as much due to the attendance by a rowdy, happy crowd of young anglers-to-be attending for the NPAA Kids and family Fishing seminar directly after the weigh in as the dedicated walleye fishing fans in the Lake City area.
