Location: Rhinelander | Greg Whitson and Mark Campeau took the lead on day 2 of the MWC Championship on Erie with a 2 day total weight of 48.09 pounds. Gaines and Rhoades are in second with 44.05. Tourangeau and Neubauer droped to third with a two day total of 40.14. Van Dyke and Carlson are in fourth with 40-11 ( basically a dead heat between 3rd and 4th), and Brumbaugh and Robertson moved from 8th to 5th.
The winds were brutal out there today, creating up to 7' seas in shallower lee areas and a solid 3-4' almost everywhere due to the NE track.
The bite is still obviously funky, many of the teams expressed that they thought the day 2 top weight would barely hold first on day one.
Tomorrow looks rough, but the winds are supposed to be SW, which is the best to at least leave from Huron. Those traveling east or west can move along the shoreline and break out into the lake when they are inshore from the spot they want to hit. Rain and T storms are possible, and the big Q is whether there will be a small craft advisory, calling off day three.
