Put my boat in for her maiden voyage of the season on Saturday 4-19. Fished from 1-4pm with my son. We are still learning how to fish the spring river run, so just vertical jigged while sliding with the current. Never saw a raft or boat catch a fish. We managed one bite from a 29" spawned out female in 12 fow.

Anyone care to educate others like me that are new to the marsh spawning walleyes of the wolf? I see lots of boats anchored in the brush on the shallow/slow side of the river... yet most of the rafts are on the fast/deep sides. Are the fish swimming up on the slow side and the spawned out fish on their return run riding down the fast side? How do you for fish each? Any insight you can provide would be much appreciated.

Do you prefer to drift or anchor/tie up?

I like to drift, but my son likes to anchor. So... I guess both. Quite honestly, we'll do whatever is most productive at the time. Usually avoid live bait as we are mostly C&R anglers.

I usually tie up when I fish the Wolf and I do use minnows. I find that during the run most the fish i catch are able to be released. In the faster current try using a stick bait behind a sinker heavy enough to get it down.
