New User Posts: 2 | What do you consider the best walleye lake in Wisconsin? I know about all the walleye water in Minnesota.

We don't have nearly as many big lakes in WI as there are in MN. Our biggest inland lake is Winnebago at 40,000 some acres with our second biggest being Petenwell at 23,000, and it goes down significantly from there. We have a lot of small lakes with good populations, but most are not huge tourist attractions like, Lake of the Woods, Mill Lacs, Red Lake, etc... One area where Wisconsin lakes excel, is the three lines per angler rules allowing for greater trolling success (on the lakes you can troll on).

Member Posts: 538 | I second Rookies observation, but I think 138,000 acres is a lttle closer to Bago's size. Take care, Jim O

New User Posts: 2 | I didn't know that Winnebago had that large of a population. Used to Winnie, Leech and Cass in Minnesota. My brother-in-law has a bad back and can't stand the long car rides, so were looking for something closer to Indiana. Don't want to fish Erie, (small boat) so looking for something in Wisconsin.

It offers plenty of 20-25" fish and better yet they can be caught jigging (the way God intended) instead of trolling. You can also eat the fish from this system unlike GB which will take 10 years off your life span for every walleye you eat. If you want to actually fish come to Bago. If you want to eat potato chips and look at huge unetible fish, GB is the place for you. There are some jigging patterns on the bay but I would rather not upset Mr. Zollar by giving them away

Member Posts: 49 | Flambeau Flowage has some pretty awesome fishing at times. Casting, jigging and slip bobbering can all be good. It is a large body of water with numerous places near by to stay.

Oh Rich and just think if your drop and stay would have made you a millionaire you wouldn't have to go to work and listen to the guy tell you about the 36" walleye. Better luck next time :) Grrrrrr.....the north wind is blowing, man i bet that foundry stinks in a north wind.

Member Posts: 5 | It depends. Do you want to fish a lake where the limit is 2 fish over 15", or a lake with a 3 fish limit, where only one can be over 15?
