It's going to be an interesting bite on the Winnebago system over the next three days. The weather will be a bit jumpy with a couple fronts moving through offering a big warm up for the last day. Winds? Crap shoot at this point. The forecast says 9 MPH out of the NE tomorrow, but Friday and Saturday look to be a little rough with 16 to 20 MPH winds from the South going over to WSW with possible thunder-rockers (BOOMERS!) Saturday afternoon.

Word is the trolling bite on the mud is pretty stirred up. There's some time for things to settle out, but Mother Nature may toss another curve ball with wind and rain before the event wraps up.

The field leaves the ramp at 7 AM tomorrow and we'll have morning interviews and images up directly after.

NE winds at about 12 are forecast to diminish a bit today, with cloudy skies and moderate temps. It was 'brisk' at the takeoff today, more like October than September.

Reports are mixed on the prefish, but a constant in all the interviews except one was the lack of any clearly defined pattern. The complete arsenal of presentations is in play for most of the Pros fro pulling Off Shore broads and cranks, to spinners, vertical jigging, pitching jigs, and pitching cranks.

Some of the Pros are into the fish as usual. Predictions hold that it will take 11 to 13 pounds a day to cash a check, and a much as 15 a day to make the cut.to make the cut.

The weigh in begins at 3 PM at Menominee Park today at the end of Irving Street in Osh Kosh.

Mark Courts' 'audible ' paid off as he took the lead this morning weighing in early with 16.92 avoiding the cameras and crowd, and held on through the the weigh in taking a 3# lead into day two over Jacob Ell (2nd) and Korey Sprengel (3rd). We saw Mark pitching a shoreline just outside the launch this morning, and Jason Przekurat, who we think also weighed in early and holds 9th lined up out there as well. That could be the audible...we'll find out tomorrow morning.

Korey admitted to using Fireline in 10 to 20# for his casting and trolling applications. That leads one to think 'snag infested' waters, perhaps.

In fourth is Kevin McQuoid with 10.01, and rounding out the top 5 is Ross Grothe with 9.91. It took 9# and change to make the top ten, and 6.7 to make the top twenty.

The Pros mentioned using everything in the boat to put fish in the net more than not, and a few are on patterns that may hold up well despite the rough winds coming in tomorrow forecast to hit 15 to 25 tomorrow, turning a large portion of the available bite into a maelstrom. Saturday the winds will stay stiff and move to the SW, with morning TStorms a possibility.

A 3# lead may prove to be quite a bit.

The field of 62 leaves tomorrow morning at 7AM from Memoninee Park on Lake Winnebago into a howling on-shore wind. Hopefully the morning gives a litte time before the big lake works up.

The fog that blanketed most of the valley wasn't a factor at Menominee Park this morning. The wind was quartering the shoreline, and not too bad yet at 7 AM.

The forecast is calling for 15 to 25, so it will definitely get bumpy out there on an already very tough bite.

Mark Courts said in an interview this morning his bite should hold up, and the wind isn't a huge factor.

Same with Korey Sprengel.

Jacob Ell seems to be fishing somewhere where the wind will kick him around, but he fished that water in practice in 15 mph winds, and is confident he'll be good through the day.

Ross Grothe also is confident his bite will hold. No one offered specifics about areas, but a couple of the top ten are pitching jigs to the shallows and flatline trolling cranks. Jason Przekurat cut his engine at the point leaving menominee and started woking the rocks along the shoreline. That's where he and Courts began the day yesterday. Courts motored by and headed South.

Weigh in begins ar 3 PM, and should wrap up around 4:15, so look for an early report this evening.

The winds are still moderate. Courts and Przekurat were done early yesterday, so if their bite held, they could be in high clover right now. If Mark was planning to start where he did yesterday sharing a drift with of Jason, another boat may have changed his plans.

The lead didn't change as Mark Courts weighed in over 11 pounds to hold onto first place going into the final day. Korey Sprengel traded places with Jacob Ell, with Korey in second 3 pounds out of the lead, and Jacob a few ounces back.

Fourth is Kevin McQuiod, fifth Tommy Skarlis, sixth Robert Cardenas, seventh Ross Grothe, eighth Ted Takasaki, ninth Jason Doyon, and tenth Tom Keenan. Over 8 pounds separates the leader from tenth place.

There was some jigging and some trolling going on, and the top 2 pros are doing some out-of-the-box stuff out there.

Winds look strong out of the WSW tomorrow, and none of the Pros are worried about it.

The field of ten left today under cloudy skies and moderate West winds. The forecast is for possible T Storms and West winds 10 to 20. No one seemed anything but happy with the weather, and the predictions are today may offer the best bite of the tournament.

Cranks and jigs were tied to many of the rods in the rigs this morning. It looks like a few are flatline trolling and a few using Off Shore boards. Flicker Shads and Flicker Minnows were tied to a number of rods.

The weigh in starts at 3 with the anglers arriving on one of the Park 'trains'.

Korey Sprengel jigged the rubble from an old railroad trestle with Berkley Fireline, a jig, and a Powerbait Rib worm. He credited the win to being able to keep the jig tied up despite multiple snags, and the scent the Powerbait offered helping the walleyes find his lure in the stirred up waters of Lake Winnebago. His Co-Angler was casting Berkley Flicker Shads on Fireline to stir the fish up, and again, the Fireline saved time and lures, plus added the element of super sensitivity in the big winds the last couple days.

Truly a come-from-behind win that seemed to be impossible when Jacob weighed in his 18# plus bag.

The 18.42 pound bag was JUST enough to take the win from second place finished Jacob Ell (watch this guy, he has talent and has a ton of class), who weighed in a similar bag and was just 6 ounces back. Mark Courts slipped to third, Kevin McQuoid took fourth, Ross grothe 5th, Ted Takasaki 6th, Tommy Skarlis 7th, Robert Cardenas 8th, Tom Keenan 9th, and Jason Doyon 10th.

A good portion of the field was stacking cranks on down rods or handlines in front of the river.

Next up? The MWC Championship in Devil's Lake, ND. Stand by for video, images, and more.

Excuse my ignorance, tried finding the info online without success. What was the payout for this event and did they have to pay an entry fee?

Yes on the entry fee, I believe with contingencies Korey's payday was about $86,000.00 in cash and prizes. He won a certificate for a fully rigged Ranger 621. Total payout was around a quarter million with contingencies, and they paid down to 15th.
