This report from the 2014 Trawler Assessment provides more info about game fish and forage species in addition to shad. 2014 was a poor year for all species.

I agree with your prediction. The bite is going to be on fire until mid-June until this year's YOY forage become eye food. Hopefully, the harvest won't hurt the system.

I second the lack of forage notion, especially shad. That varies from year to year I imagine. Shep can still catch eyes. Here are a couple of nice ones from Poygan.
