Location: Rhinelander | With heavy winds rolling in during the early morning hours and only looking to get worse, tournament officials decided to play it safe and restrict anglers to only fishing on the Fox River. Anglers I talked to said that the fall migration of walleyes into the river has only just started, with most of the fish in the river being resident fish. Big fish are present but not nearly what is available in the main Bay and lake. Stay tuned to Walleyefirst for coverage of the weigh in this afternoon. Location: Rhinelander | With anglers forced to fish the river due to 25mph winds, the fish decided to cooperate leading to a lot of limit catches. The downside is that the resident river fish don't run the average size that the lake fish do. Day 1 leaders Randall Gaines and Mike Rhoades were able to stay in first place with a 7lb 2oz bag. With heavy winds again forecasted for Saturday (day 3), tournament officials might be forced to make it another 'river day'.
