Summit and Furseth Win Opening Michigan Team Challenge
Trenton, MI - David Summit and Erik Furseth started the 2004 season out right by winning the opening tournament of the World Walleye Association Michigan Team Challenge April 3rd. held out of the Lake Erie Metro Park Boat Launch.

Summit and Furseth caught a five fish limit weighing 24.36 pounds just edging out second place finishers Will Kneer and Nate Seiferlein who also caught a five fish limit weighting 23.97 pounds.

Dave Kolb and Denny Lantzy placed third with a weight of 19.88 pounds.

The second Michigan Team Challenge event of the season, which was scheduled for Sunday April 4th, was canceled due to bad weather. Tournament Director Jeff Russell said it will be rescheduled for a later date.

WWA Michigan Team Challenge Division to Open on Detroit River
FOND DU LAC, WI - The Detroit River, home to some of the best early season walleye fishing in the country, will be the location of the World Walleye Association's Michigan Team Challenge opening two events April 3rd, and April 4th 2004.

These will be two individual one-day tournaments to be held out of Lake Erie Metro Park boat launch in Trenton, MI.

Jeff Russell, an accomplished tournament angler in his own right and second year director of the WWA Michigan Team Challenge division expects some excellent catches to come out of these events.

"I talked to Jeff the other day and he said the big fish are starting to move into the river and I expect some excellent weights to be brought in by the teams this weekend." relayed Steve Poll, Executive Director of the World Walleye Association.

Registration for the events will be Friday April 3rd from 6:00 P.M. 7:00 P.M. for Saturday's event and Saturday April 4th from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. for Sunday s event with rules meetings to follow. Registration will take place next to the launch ramp.

Entry fee is $200 per team per event and $25 WWA membership fee per angler. Entry is limited to 100 teams.
