|Minnetonka, MN - Cabela's Masters Walleye Circuit is back in Oshkosh, WI for 2005 as it rolls into Lake Winnebago landing a full field of 440 resolute anglers.|
The MWC's second Central Division tournament will bring anglers from all over North America together in pursuit of this year's $107,000 purse.
Beautiful Menominee Park will serve as the backdrop for the launch and weigh in activities for the June 25-26 competition. 220 teams will vie for the first place prize of $28,512. The anglers will be greeted by the Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Lighthouse Anglers Club.
Lake Winnebago, the largest lake within the state of Wisconsin boarders, known for it scenic beauty, and incredible walleye action has experienced unseasonably warm weather over the last few weeks. Favorable conditions are expected during the tournament which should translate into heavier weights.
Trolling techniques this year may need to be adjusted a bit due to the presence of Zebra Mussels' affect on water clarity. Good news for our anglers is that Mercury's four-stroke 9.9 Pro Kicker motor - designed by fishermen for fishermen - could be a big asset here. The Pro Kicker allows for running custom prop configurations, "and with optional aftermarket accessories, even more control can be achieved by dialing in your optimal speed" according to Gary Gray, pro angler with Mercury Marine. Eighty to 90 percent of the guys will be trolling the mud pulling spinners or cranks. "The fact that the Pro Kicker has achieved the slowest trolling speeds in its class is another reason why I like the Mercury BigFoot Gear Case design".
