Miller and Schmerbach win in tough bite at Bellevue |
High winds, cold temperatures and high water greeted the twenty-nine Walleye Anglers Trail teams at their second regular season tournament in Bellevue, Iowa this past weekend, April 23rd and 24th, 2005.
The team of Harry Miller Jr. and Bob Schmerbach squeaked out a victory over the 2nd. place team of John Mannerino and Mark Michael by .05 lb. Bob Schmerbach brought in a 3 lb. walleye to capture the "Big Fish" award.
Many anglers were catching nice walleyes but they were in the protected 20 to 27 inch slot. The Walleye Anglers Trail assisted the Iowa DNR with their creel count and tagged fish identification project at the weigh-in each day.

Bellevue, Iowa next stop on Walleye Anglers Trail |
The Walleye Anglers Trail moves to Bellevue, Iowa on April 23 & 24, 2005 for its second tournament of the year. Reports from Bellevue indicate that a strong bite should occur.
Tournament Director Bill Brosnahan expects a 40 boat field to compete in Bellevue for cash and prizes in excess of $10,000. Entry is still open for the Bellevue Tournament with a due date of April 16, 2005 to avoid the $50.00 late entry fee. Entry fee for all 2005 tournaments are $325.00 per team that includes the big fish pot. Membership is required to fish in the Walleye Anglers Trail tournaments. Membership is $20.00 per person per year. Entry forms are available to download from www.walleyeanglerstrail.com.
The rules meeting for all competitors will be held on Friday evening April 22nd. at the Bellevue Community Center located 1 mile west of the Bellevue Dam Ramp on State Street. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM with dinner and all the fixing�s provided by our sponsors.
