HUGILLS WIN WWA MINNESOTA TEAM OF THE YEAR TITLES
FOND DU LAC, WI - Starting the season off with a back-to-back wins in both a division tournament and an open event helped Roger and Susan Hugill capture the World Walleye Association Minnesota Team Challenge Team Of The Year and Husband and Wife Team Of The Year titles.

Roger and Susan not only won the opening "Open" event on the Mississippi River at Red Wing but also the opening event of the Minnesota Team Challenge held at Red Wing the following day.

In addition to their two wins, Roger and Susan also had a fifth and an eighth place finish to help them secure the victory.

Finishing second in the point standings were Tim Cain and Dan Strehlo.

Brett King and Doug Gardner placed third.

The next stop for the Minnesota Team Challenge competitors will be the West Regional Championship to be held on Big Stone Lake out of Ortonville.

HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM WIN WWA WEST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Ortonville- Roger and Susan Hugill became "Best of the West" by winning the World Walleye Association West Regional Championship October 8th and 9th on Big Stone Lake.

Roger and Susan went into the event already crowned the WWA Minnesota Team Challenge Team Of The Year and Husband and Wife Team Of The Year. After this event they currently lead all teams in points for the title of WWA National Team Of The Year heading into the WWA National Championship to be held next year in the spring of 2006.

Though the bite was rather tough on Big Stone Lake throughout the weekend, Roger and Susan started out strong on Saturday by catching four walleyes weighing 9.83-pounds which included the big fish of day one weighing 3.37-pounds. Trolling spinners on a breakline in 8-12 feet of water was the technique the Hugills used to catch their fish.

But day two wasn't as kind to the Hugills. They weren't able to catch a weigh fish all day but their sizeable basket on day one was enough to carry them through to victory.

Second place went to the South Dakota Team Challenge team of Carlyle Schliem and Bruce Dohman. Though Carlyle and Bruce didn1t catch a weigh fish on day one, they came back strong on day two of the event catching only one fish but that fish weighed a whopping 7.86-pounds and vaulted them into second place giving them the honors of big fish of the tournament! Carlyle and Bruce trolled Shad Raps to catch their fish.

Third place went to another Minnesota Team Challenge team, Tim Cain and Dan Strehlo. Tim and Dan pitched jigs tipped with crawlers or minnows to catch their three fish on Saturday and one fish on Sunday that combined for a total weight of 7.24-pounds.

Those teams that competed in either the WWA East Regional Championship or the WWA West Regional Championship will now be invited to compete in the no entry fee WWA National Team Championship that will be held in the spring of
2006 on the Mississippi River to determine both the WWA National Team Champion and the WWA National Team Of The Year.

World Walleye Association Regional Championships to be at Big Stone Lake and the Illinois River
Fond Du Lac, WI - Steve Poll, Executive Director of the World Walleye Association has announced that the East Regional Championship will be September 24th and 25th on the Illinois River at Henry, Illinois and the West Regional Championship will be October 8th and 9th on Big Stone Lake at Ortonville, Minnesota.

"We are very excited about the locations of the Regional Championships." Said Poll, "Big Stone Lake has some excellent numbers of walleyes with the potential of big fish. And just about every technique can produce the winning basket." Poll continued, "Going to the Illinois River in the fall will be a change for many anglers as most circuits only fish there in the spring. Everyone knows the Illinois' potential for Sauger but will a team be able to catch any of those big Walleyes that are in the Illinois River, we will see."

Teams that fished at least two one-day qualifiers in a particular division or regional open event will be eligible to fish the Regional Championship for that division.

The top twenty teams based on total points after each Regional Championship and the top five finishing teams based on position of finish at each Regional Championship will be invited to fish the World Walleye Association National Championship in the spring of 2006.

Further details about the regional championships will be announced in the coming days on the WWA website www.worldwalleye.com.
