| 1 DUSTIN KJELDEN 39.19 [5]
That says it all on the first day of the top ten competition at the FLW Walleye Tour Championship on lake Erie out of Cleveland, Ohio.
Co Angler MIKE ZAWISTOWSKI took home the Championship honors on the amateur side, and a check for $11,000.00.
The weather and the big winds laid down and the fish moved up in the water column, producing a two heavy limits for Scott Fairbairn (2nd with 32.81) and Dustin Kjelden.
The rest of the field starting with Dennis Lantzy in third are at least 8# back, but Lake Erie hasn't even begun to give up the single day weight she's capable of. This is still, believe it or not, almost anyone's game statistically.
Of course, owning a 6# plus lead doesn't hurt going into the final day of Competition looking for a check at $150,000.00 including contingencies.
The big water will be easy to navigate tomorrow morning so the Pros, now fishing with only two rods as the Co Angler Champion was crowned today, should be able to get to any spot they feel holds the winning fish.
Watch for WalleyeFIRST video and images coming soon from the FLW Championship production at the Cleveland Convention Center.
Stay with WalleyeFIRST for the final day, with coverage beginning at 7 AM central tomorrow.
