Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | From the mind of your favorite inventor and Mad Fishing Scientist comes yet another Capt. Dan invention/idea from the dark side. In my search for the Holy Grail of techniques and something the fish have never seen before, I've had yet another brain fart of an idea. And although not tested yet in this newer form, this idea is so diabolical and hideously ugly that it just may work. Actually it really should, as I'm using two of three of my past inventions/modifications that have proven themselves great walleye catchers in my area (as shown in the pictures below) as well as in many others bodies of water, as testified to by people who have built, bought and/or used these items from me in the past. Using two of these modified items, I plan on mating them together and running them behind a section of another lure I tried just this last summer with some very good success, the Eyeliminator.
One of the things I liked right away about the Eyeliminator was the Cross Loc swivel behind the Flasher Spoon. This allowed the buyer to easily remove, change, replace or modify the blade harness that it came with if they wanted or needed to, after some use or abuse by a few walleyes. With this feature in place, I surmised it would also allow for a quick change of any other item fallowing behind that flasher, without major equipment or trolling strategy changes. And ultimately give the user the attraction benefit of the flasher, along with one or all three successful choices of either the standard Blade Harness the Eyeliminator comes with, or a Spoon or Crank Bait type lure. And all can be ran separately or together using the same variety of weight forward attachments, ran at the same speeds and with either real live bait or some of the more popular/successful artificial bait products. Imagine, running a spoon flasher in front of a crank, that itself is part harness and can be baited with live bait. This has got to generate some serious walleye attention even on neutral days.
The two items I plan on modifying even more from their already modified state to use with this idea and accomplish this theory are my own Spoon Harness Rigs and my Meat Freaks idea, that I modified out of the Dave's Ka'Boom Mean Streaks. And even though I'm showing all the applications that I will be using or can be used behind the spoon flashers in the picture below, its only the top two I plan on making and selling during this winters slow period. The third in line is in fact what you get when you buy a Eyliminaotor anyways, except I changed the #4 blade to a #8 Tommy Harris and changed the hooks from their original Red Tru-Turns. But this third in line configuration is what is pattented and protected from duplication and any kind of sale under that pattent. I am not looking to steal sales of any of the things I use or modify, but to include them in my modifications and hopefully encourage sales of these quality items for everybodies improved walleye catching success.
I remember a few of you on this board contacting me last year and asking me if I could make and sell you some of my modified Meat Freaks. I declined to do so for a variety of ethical, monitary and modification reliability reasons. But the green light is on for those sales now, if anybody is still interested. I'm not interested in any Mass production orders, as this is honestly a hobby and just another in a long line of technique sharing ideas I often post. Some may simply want just a couple to use as a template to make your own. It really don't matter to me. I will take personal confidential orders now for any of the 3 Meat Freak prism colors (91) (92) (94) (colors below) or spoon harnesses colors (not chosen yet) I plan on building this fall/winter to closely match the color schemes of the flashers. I will probably also try it with my Wiggle Squid idea (fourth in line), but do not plan on making any more of those to sell at this time, but use only the ones I personally own now.
The Meat Freaks as well as the spoon harnesses will all be put on short plastic coated wire leaders, have two hook harnesses with trebles at the back (as show) and attached to Cross Loc swivels at each end for quick attachment to and ran behind the Eyeliminator Flasher, that will act simply as that, a flasher/attractor. Forward flashers and dodgers of course have been around for years and helping people catch Salmon and Trout forever, but the walleye idea took some getting used to for Me. And even though my first thoughts about a bigger front flasher for walleye (since I first seen one), was that the whole Eyeliminator rig was to gaudy, busy and flashy to catch walleyes. They invariably proved me very wrong, as well as some others individuals I got to talk to from other areas, that both E-mailed or PM'd me after my initial post about using them on the Saginaw Bay.
You all know me, I can't leave anything alone in it's present workable state. So I'm going to build and offer for sale my usual 200 or so Spoon Harnesses this winter as usual, as I've been able to sell them locally easy enough throughout each season. And along with those, the 100 or so Meat Freaks in 3 of the hotter prism colors I plan to make and sell. You can see that Purple Prism Meat Freak (below) goes great with that Purple Tommy Harris painted Eyeliminator Flasher. And if somebody wants included with each the added customized leader to put on the back of the Eyeliminator Flashers to use with these rigs, there will only be a small extra fee for doing so.
And as usual all the ideas and things I build and share on these boards are plainly shown, laid out and shared here with you guys. This allows all of you who like the ideas and have the time, will and skill, to fabricate your own if you like. I'm also hoping that you guys will at least consider buying some of Dave's Ka'Boom Streaks, Jim's Eyeliminators or a few Michigan Stinger Spoons from your favorite sporting goods outlets if you do decide to build your own, as all are great fish catchers rather modified or in their natural state. And all are quality built products that have become high quality components in my brainstorming ideas. Consider and be grateful also, that this is one of the few message boards that would even allow such a post and pictures like these to be shown.

As mentioned in my post. The third one from the top is not my idea, nor am I making any of them, as they are pattented by the Eyeliminator company. Nor am I buying, selling or adding any spoon front flashers at all, that part is up to you. I merely showed #3 as Eyeliminators personal invention and part of what could be 4 different rigs using the same type front flasher. The other one you site is not the same, with the blade in front and the spoon in back. And I won't debate what came first the chicken or the egg. I'm simply sharing ideas with everybody that I think will/might work for anybody interested in new walleye catching ideas. And just maybe generate and support some extra business for three local (made in the USA) fishing lure companies.

| Dan they look like good ideas but there are others that have done some of the same type and down river also has a patent pending but anyone who applys for one gets that.myself i have used the eyeliminators and my catch rate has went up as it also looked like you did well with them after your purchase.but i did see on down rivers page that they think its all a gimick with the web and the spiders well if it works dont fix it and when it works they all will come out of the wood work to try to make something that looks like what has been selling and doing good on the market and putting fish in the live well | |

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Please don't read any sarcasm into this entire post. But that reminds me of the time I laughed at the guy next to me fishing for Lake Browns at Harrisville Harbor using Pink Miniature marshmallows, while I used real spawn and nightcrawlers. 3 hours later when he was leaving with his limit, I was just getting back from my 14 mile drive one way with the last bag of Pink Miniatures in the county. Spider and web, crawdad, or an amateur drawing of the Monalisa, who cares, as long as they work. Thats the idea. Why must everything (even ideas) be seen as some matcho (mines bigger and better then yours) contest when it comes to fishing?
Until I started tying 2 and 3 hook harnesses connected to the back of spoons in 2002 (the year that top picture was taken) I never seen or heard of one before. I did in fact see the Meat Freak idea used as far back as 40 years ago on Lake Mitchell, tied behind a T-4 Flatfish. But let me know where you've seen anything looking remotely like my Meat Freak harness idea, with a diving bill (harnessed) crankbait tied behind a spoon flasher. And finally, I make more money on one summer charter trip then I have in any one winter making and selling any of these things I modify. I simply like building them and freely sharing the ideas. So please don't make this yet another helpful idea I will regret posting about, because I'm getting very close to acting like everyboody else (Pro and Am alike) with the "BIG SECRET" techniques, and simply keeping them private or selling them to In-Fisherman where everybody has to pay for them.

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Don't worry Steve.
None of anyone's arrows I've read have been aimed at the heart yet in my view. And after a few years of this, my skin has become more crocodile like anyway. But by explaining myself thoroughly on the matter, I'm hoping to keep that crowd of "What's his angle?" attitude and supposition posters in check.
