DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR DESIGNS TO GET A WHEEL CHAIR BOUND FISHERMAN INTO A BOAT. I'M TRYING COME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT WOULD MOUNT ON TO THE TRAILER SO I COULD FISH OTHER LAKES. I'VE BEEN IN THIS WHEELCHAIR FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND I'VE SPENT COUNTLESS HRS. ON THE INTERNET BUT CAN'T COME UP WITH ANYTHING. WITH THIS WEB-SITE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO JUST ASK A FELLOW FISHERMAN.

I dont have plans for one....but, they could be designed pretty easily.

I saw once a Chevy truck with a swinging crane of sorts with a sling seat. Should be a way to incorporate an electric winch from the front of the trailer (doubles for loading the boat too) that will pivit with a load from outside the gunnels to inside the gunnels, then use it to load the chair too. Could be made to be removable and stored in the frame of the trailer I would think.

Would be a great project for a engineering student to design....or just a helpfull handyman. I will try to sketch something up and post a .jpg of my idea.

My gramps had a good friend in a wheel chair from a logging accident....the way to get him in the boat was by me wading into the water up to my belt with him on my back, piggy back style....not easy for a 15 year old kid.....but easier that carrying him though tag alders to get to the canoe landings, which was done several times a year.

Hope somebody has an idea that is already produced so you can access more water.

I have ideas, but not sure if they would work and I would recommend you always go with a partner...I would imagine some kind of ramp system would be need to get you into your boat from the dock...depending if your boat is set up for this work, but you could use a ramp to get into the front of the boat and maybe another small ramp to get to the counsel of the boat...do you have any pictures of the boat so we could brainstorm??

RIGHT NOW I HAVE A PONTOON THAT IS ALL SET UP FOR MY CHAIR. IT'S A G3 18' FISH. VERY NICE. I GET IN AND OUT AT MY HOME WHICH IS ONLY FIVE BLOCKS FROM THE LANDING. I BUZZ UP A 40' RAMP AND DRIVE MY CHAIR RIGHT IN THE 'TOON. MY BROTHER AND I FISH ALOT AND DO SOME TOURNAMENTS AND HE'S PLANNING ON BUYING A DEEP VEE SO THE BIG CHOP DOESN'T BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF ME AS BAD AS IT DID IN MY PONTOON. I GUESS I LEARNED THAT MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WILL USE THE PONTOON ON CALMER WINDLESS DAY'S. THE BOAT WE'LL PROBABLY BE GETTING IS THE G3 210 ADVANTAGE OR THE V185F, NOT SURE BUT WILL HAVE TANDEM AXELS. IF YOU WANT TO SEE A PICTURE GO TO G3BOATS.COM. THANKS FOR THE TIPS.

sounds like the 2 biggest issues here are you need to get in and out of the boat and you need to find a way to restrain the wheel chair so you dont get tossed all over the boat in ruff water. The restraint system should be pretty simple to come up with. I would think a T bolt and a piece of sturdy steel to clamp down the wheels. As for getting in and out of the boat depends how mobile you are could you slide in the boat off the dock and then back into your seat or do you require some sort of lift?
