Hey guys,
It has been some time since I have been on the site, Boys scouts have been keeping me busy these last two years and really enjoy doing it with my son. But have been out as often as I can.
This past weekend I decided to start putting things away in my back garage and decided to pull my Guide Series Dave Genz fish trap down and found that I had been attacked by mice in the upper levels of my garage. Found two holes about 3 inches round and the thing stink like mouse piss. My fish trap is only two years old. So my questions are, can I wash the tent canvas in a laundry mat large capacity washer? and let it air dry? Not sure what this will do to the plastic windows? I plan on using regular detergent. Also does anyone know if USL products sells material to repair the holes? There has to be someone out there that ended up in this same situation, I do not want to wash it in a washer if I am going to destroy it in the process. Look forward to your replies.

Thanks!!!

Shad.

I'm not in love with the washer idea. The mouse holes and plastic windows are not (IMV) compatible with a powerfull agitator. I clean and water proff several types of canvas I own every year. My canvas top on my boat as well as my Otter Lodge Shanty (when it needs it). I use a mild dish soap or Simple Green and brush the soap in and then rinse. The water proofer I use is bought at ACE hardware and put on with a roller. Of course I cannot remember it's name right now while typing this at 6:33 am. But if you want to know, I'll dig it out.

Clam corp does offer a patch kit for the tent portion of your shanty. I beleive you can buy it online direct from Clam Corp.

As for the mouse piss, I agree with Dan (Can't believe I said that ) Dish soap, soft brush and the garden hose and start "scrubbing". And Yes, get the water proofer. Any sports shop that sells camping equipment will have it. Get 2 or 3 cans and put it on heavy. Once done, you'll be able to ice fish in the rain and still stay dry.

BTW, the guide series is the "right" size. I love mine after one season and some slight modifications to "improve" my rapein' and pillagin' machine.
