Thin skin? You didn't get bashed. I simply asked if the ice thickness info you posted was 1st hand.

My exact words:

"Rob, Do you have first information on the ice thickness? If not it may be safer to withhold ice thickness reports. People might actually believe the ice is 4"-6" and act recklessly."

I asked because the reports I had were of significantly thinner measurements.

Jayman...

Where is this secret fishing spot you speak of ??? I would like to follow you to DePere and mark all your hot spots so I can partake in the wonderful sport of Walleye Fishing. Is it true that the fish are already cooked and ready to eat kinda like a smoked ham?

Let me know what would work for you, I'd like to bring along my brother and his friend Jason, they don't get out much and I promised them I'd help them catch a walleye over 13 inches next year.

The Perch have been hitting all fall on Poygan, it should be an excellent year for ice fishing, but then again, I'm not telling anyone about it.

"Viking,
I would not have posted ice thickness unless I heard the ice thickness from several trusted customers. Not looking to get anyone hurt out there, just pass info"

"considering I have never met either of you guys (you do not come into the shop, or if you do, you have never introduced yourselves), I will trust friends of mine, I have met through the shop. Please, stop by, introduce yourselves.
Bash me all you want now. I'm done sharing info (BTW, I was out there today, and found at least 5". try and guess which one I was out there)."

"No bashing intended, sorry if you took it that way. I just wanted suggest that it may not be wise to rely on 2nd hand accounts when issues of safety are at stake."

I would have never posted that info, had it not come from customers who share a "No BS" report (very trusted customers, who have became friends of mine), with me from everything from Musky to wally, to smally and everything else. Thin skin? no. Me sharing info, being questionable about it, then me varifying it yesterday, first hand, kinda bogus.

Insider info will now only be passed on to folks who ask me for it.

Just came back from Milwaukee and passed Skipper Buds aroung 3:00 ok... looks like about 35 guys ice fishing.... looks like everyone is getting along just fine.

If you want to hire me, I'll go tomorrow and make sure they all get skunked!!

It's the reason none of my friends won't ever invite me to go icefishing with them... I have the icefishing curse and that's why I don't icefish any more.

I bought a new auger, tent, tipups, jig poles, deptfinder and a new heater a couple of years ago to give it another try, but after 10 trips and no fish, I knew my luck would never change so I sold everything. Now I just sit back and tie flies all winter long. At last count, I have about a 200 year supply of streamers.

I agree, the thing that makes fishing good is common sense in harvest, and catch & release which is so important for the future!

I was on skipper buds a few days ago and got a limit of 25 after sorting through about 100 fish. They looked a lot bigger in my hand than on my fillet table...I am guessing the biggest I had was 8" with a bunch others around 7" or so...Question for you guys that fillet a lot of bluegill...do you mostly scale them, cut off the head and fins, and gut them to get the job done or do you do another technique. I felt bad after I was done cleaning mine to find that it was maybe a meal for only 2 people...I think I lost quite a bit of meat filleting the fish like a perch. Thanks
