| I got burnt out last year. Fished too many tourneys. Gonna cut back this year.
My 2008 schedule will be the Fox River Spring Classic, Fort Fremont(?), and the FLW League WI. Maybe the Merc.
How about you? |

I am going to do the FLW Leugue, Lake Pepin Open or MTT, and some smaller local gigs.
Would like to wander over to Scony and do a Green Bay tourny or the Fox River depending on time |

Location: Chicago IL. | I will be cutting back also shep. Last 5 years has been alittle crazy. I got a new knee almost a month ago and the vet said no big water tourneys for atleast a year. I think i`m just going to fish small river tourneys if any next year. I`m still not shure what yet untill this thing heals some more. Got acouple of months to think about it yet.As of now, this steel and plastic thing dont like the cold at all. If that dont change it looks like I will be a fair weather fisherman. Mabey do the bass thing. |

Location: Appleton, WI | Shep, is Mike your partner for the Merc Nats? If not, I may need to borrow one of my two best friends for the weekend. If he is your partner, I stand no chance with any other partner against you two.

| Nope, Mike isn't my pard for the Nats. I think I'm going to have to come up with a new pard this year. So I may not get in. Good partners are hard to find. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | Since there aren't any events scheduled in the western half of WI this year, I'll probably be doing the Heartland division of the FLW League. I can't even find any decent sized local events over here.
Man, I miss the GNWC. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | I might do one or two WATs this year, but again I like to travel a little and do more than one body of water. I'm actually looking forward to the Heartland since that'll be 3 new places for me. I may not be a top dog there, but getting into the championship fishing two entirely different states will mean a lot to me (now I just have to see if I can make it happen).
I'm pretty stoked about the championship for the league, pool 7 is my home water and 6 is pretty slick too (I don't know 5A all that well). I'm not usually a home water homer, but those pools in September could make for a good championship. Good luck this year to everyone. |

| shep id fish the merc with you but your going to have to be flexible . i would want to fish under a fossel bobber till at least 11 am.. also would love to do otter street and the mwc on bggo .... i guess the baggo mwc will take priority this year as they dont show up that often close to home... im looking forward to some pub tournys with time off permitting... usualy do a few with my son... i guess im more open to sunday tournys as single day events.. the mws on baggo. i dont know if the max lure will make a stop or not.. i also like the bay in august the oconto flw in august will bring in some mind blowing weights , i just dont know yet... maybe the mws schedual ... ill have to look into the sheboygan walleye club... i remember it being more family oriented years ago and with the cabellas qualifiers its getting more tournament based... ill have to see if there is a schedual up for it... i was contemplating starting a sunday morning club on baggo... low entry and a points challange.. with family teams and substitutions avialable as long as they were family... catch and eat... sunday mornings .. i was thinking maybe 1 in may before the merc, two in july and two in august to fill in some holes agian catch and eat.. mostly for fun.... trophys and a little cash... somehting more for father son or husband wife, granpa grandaughter, i dont know... i looked into permit aplications printed out the stuff ... looks like a mess... i dont know if the headache is worth it ... im looking for idias.. if anyone has imput... honor system starts maybe some good food or a local pub to sponsor it and offer a way in sight... i would love to have everyone show up at a sight with there cooler of fish measure them in inches wile everyone is having a beer and a sandwich as all the coolers are opened one at a time... i dont know... think it would fly? |

| Any updates from you guys?
I'm still planning on the same 5. Fort Fremont, Fox Spring Classic, and the FLW WI League. Not sure if I would do the Finals if I qualify.
Kirt, Merc Nats is held in conjunction with Walleye Weekend in Fond du Lac, in early June. 2 day tourney on Bago chain, 300 boats. Great competition, and lots of fun. |

I would highly recommend doing the finals if you qualify. Pools 5A-7 are completely different animals than Moline. Most who have been up here and down there would choose these pools any day.
I keep thinking about trying to get into the Merc Nats. If I find a good partner and get in, it'll probably be my only Bago event this year. It's awful tough to get in when you have to mail an entry from across the state. I'd probably have to take the day off to drive over and drop off the entry.
Now the wheels are turning. |

| Marshall, give the Nat's a shot. There have been lots of one new teams that have gotten into Merc. Otter street goes by post mark. Not reciept of entry and I think the Nats has always been a waiting list the years they were full. But that hasn't been a problem the last couple of years. |

| Moreyes, we got borders to keep you MN guys out. Mercury Nats fills fairly quick with locals. It's a big festival, part of why you see all WI names. But there is no rule that keeps you out. The only requirement is you must have Mercury motors on your boat. |

| More than likely, I will not be fishing the FLW League again this year. I loved the schedule last year, and do not like it this year. Two tournaments on the same, big water with gas prices most likely at an all time high just makes it not worth it.
If anyone is looking for a partner for the Merc Nats, let me know. I have to blow some vacation days on fishing somehow... I have Mercs on my Lund.

Location: Manitowoc, WI | The FLW Tour, the WI FLW League, The Fox River Classic, and some SWC events. This will be my last year of tournament fishing so I'm fishing just the ones I like instead of committing to events I really don't want to fish. |

There are many other things in life I want to do. Fishing is at or near the bottom of a long list. I donate alot of my time to charity work and things I can make a positive impact on. I've also found many disappointing characters associated with tournaments and I want to distance myself from that, but I made committments to some great people for 2008, so I plan to finish what I started. |

Location: Berlin | Man Jerry, it is funny how things work. I have said the EXACT same thing and have heard the exact same thing from so many people. Every year it is something else and alot of time it is by people you least expect. Last year was no exception. It drains on you and slowly you get worn out. After much reflection I realized that I started to hate the sport I used to love so much. Funny what money and competition can do to people. Of course rising costs and other politics had a lot to do with it as well.
If you are like me, you will eventually get back into it but not at the same level. I had forgotten how fun fishing was and it sure is nice to remember again. Good luck I hope you are able to remember the good things and when the time is right get back into it and enjoy it for what it is. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | I believe you Rich.....I'm sure there are more tournaments in my future after this year. But, as far as fishing a major circuit and dedicating a large portion of my time to it, this is it for me. I will always plan to fish the Fox River Classic and the SWC events, as they are events that allow me time to get together with friends. And yes, I've heard these same things from others who had the opportunity to deal with some of the individuals involved in the major circuits. It's disappointing to have that element involved, but when large amounts of money are at stake, people react in many different ways. |
