| I like the Gunmetal and White! I saw that boat just after it came out of the mold last month. The short splashwell version. That will give more room in the cockpit.
What motors? You rigging the electronics, bowmount, radioes, etc?
Bet you're getting excited?

The shortened splashwell is awesome. The extra couple of inches that it saves is VERY nice!!! I am going to put Suzuki's on the back of it. Probably the 175 and a 9.9. As far as the electronics, my dealer is pushing going with 'birds. I like what I have read and the little that I have seen of the units and if he gets me a heck of a deal, I will go with them. 80lb Terrova on the bow and we are still trying to figure out how we are going to do the rest of the electronics? I am sure that I will spend a lot of time looking through past posts here to try to get osme ideas on rigging.
One other thing, though it is of no use to me right now as I am running a tiller kicker, the added tube to run the cables for a remote kicker is a GREAT idea!!! Also the flush mount throttle looks awesome!!
If there is anything that at first glance that I am a bit worried about, it would be how close the bow mount foot controls are going to be to the bow rise of the boat. For you guys that are running the boat, does it get a little close up there or am I just full of it?
The dry storage on this boat is HUGE and EVERYWHERE on the bow!!! |

you shouldn't have any problems with this at all.
i run the same rig (1890 DW) and there's plenty of room when leaning on the front post to have the foot pedal between you and the bow. i dislike boats that have the seatpost too far away from the bowpoint and gunnels because then you're out of reach to prop a foot up on the side or do a good figure-8 when muskie fishing.
one thing you might consider is rigging it with a Motorguide Wireless trolling motor. i really found the freedom of a wireless foot pedal to be nice, being able to run the boat from the back deck with my foot while casting, or run the trolling motor (to steer) and tiller kicker motor (to hold position) at the same time.

| 80lb Terrova is the way that I went. I am going to go get some more pics of the rigging today and try to get them posted tomorrow. The boat is coming along very nicely and Doug at The Boat Dock has came up with some great rigging ideas!! |

| Here are some pics of some of the rigging that has been done on my Tuffy 1890 so far. The 175 Suzuki looks really sharp on the boat and fits the boat well and when the 9.9 finally gets here there looks to be more than plenty of room for it. Also this looks like this will be a great place for the cd player to go as it is out of the way, not taking up usefull space and the remote can reach it from anywhere in the boat. I added 2 more speakers to the bow(sorry for the dust ) to go along with the 2 that are in the cockpit so I can listen to music up front and not have to blast out someone in the back of the boat to be able to hear it. The stereo ROCKS!! The humminbird is easy to see located like so and will be totally out of the way of whatever cover I decide to go with.

| The first picture here is of the Swivel Ez that we mounted to the side of the drivers counsel. The 997SI was not mounted on my boat yet so the next two pictures are what the mounting looks like on another boat in the shop. Rigged like this, the 997 can be seen from anywhere on the boat and because the flip window is SO wide in the 1890, you can have the unit mounted like this and still pass from the bow to the cockpit and not touch the unit.

Reason I say this, if your right handed, which majority of people are, it would personally bother me having my sonar on the left side like that but that's me. I know when I'm fiddling with my units a lot, having to reach across would drive me nuts. But maybe that won't bother you. Boat looks really sharp though!

No open water around here  It will be the end of February or beginning of march before we have any kind of open water.  |

I just say this post and have to say, I really like the way you boat looks. Congrats on the rig.
I bought my first boat last fall ( used) and am already thinking of what new one I will want in a few years. All this Tuffy talk has me thinking.

| Well I have an update on the boat. We have been having a little trouble figuring out the proper prop to use. We have tried several and every one is hitting the rev limiter, which is a good problem to have. Top speed so far has been 54 but there is still some trim left when the motor is limiting out, so now we are going to try a jackplate so we don't need to screw with droping the motor. Anybody else running a jackplate on an 1890? Would like to hear what your comments are about the set-up!

| I think there were some proping issues with the Suzuki on Norm's boat, too. The Suzuki's have a lower(higher numerically) gear ratio than the other motors out there, The 200 Opti has a 1.75 gear ratio, and a max RPM of 5750, and the 200 Suzuki has a gear ratio of 2.29 at 6000 max RPM. I run a 21 Pitch Rev 4, and I think Norm has 25 pitch big diameter Suzuki prop. That is a huge difference in props. I probably couldn't get on plane with that prop he uses.
The 175 Opti has a 1.82 gear ratio and a 5750 max RPM. The 175 Suzuki has a 2.50 gear ratio, and a max of 6100 RPM. That is quite a difference. Math says you would need a higher pitch prop on the Suzuki.
What prop are you using now? I'd avoid the jackplate if at all possible. Besides, that jackplate isn't going to solve your over-revving problem. Go more pitch.

i remember Norm being surprised at how much prop he needed to use on his 200 Suzi. that gear ratio can really crank it around.

| I bought Norm's 2006 1890 with a 200 Suzuki on it. It has a 23 pitch x 16" Suzuki prop on it. Norm says he had it up to 58 mph. So far the best I've gotten out it is 55 mph, but the prop is a bit dinged up. I think it has a very good hole shot with this prop. I'm pretty sure Norm went with a 21 x 16" Suzuki prop on his new boat. He said it launches him on take off. I am thinking about trying the 4 blade Suzuki prop this year.

| We tried a 25 w/out the jack plate and I was blowing out on the whole shoot. We are going to try the 25 again witht his jack plate and see what it does. Thanks for all the help guys!!!! |
