I am wondering, has anyone tried this new "Hook-Set Tip-Up" I'm starting to see. A little on the high side for a tip-up and just wondering if it is worth the investment.

Haven't tried it. I'm ambivalent. In theory, it seems like it would help.  However, I use tip-ups for situations that require you to let the lite biters take the bait -- the spring load seems a littlel too intense and will yank the bait right out of light biters..

I've seen them in action, they seem to work pretty well. I'd rather set the hook myself, though.

Cabelas has them half off in their bargain section. You need to use quick set rigs with them. Read the reviews in Cabelas.
