The wife and I are planning a vacation again this year with the kids (9,7 and 2). It will have to be sometime in August-September. We usually hit the Woodruff area and have liked but I really would like to rent a cottage on a lake that has good walleye fishing that time of year. I don't want to have to drive more than 5 hours from the Oshkosh area. My wife is nagging me to pick a lake so I need your help. Any thoughts??

Look at a chain. One of my favorites is the Cisco chain on the border. You may want a Michigan license to fish the whole chain. Lots of walleyes, pike, bluegill and just beautiful surroundings. Some lakes are crystal clear and some are more stained. I don't know much about resorts since I have a place in the area.

Rich,

The last two summers in August, we've enjoyed camping at Lake Thompson near Rhinelander. Lots of panfish, swimming, horseback riding, nature trails, and plenty of other things to do in the area. I believe the place we stayed is called West Bay Camping Resort. I recommend it for a nice place that's easy on the checkbook.

There are many other places in the Rhinelander area, which is only about 3 hrs. from Oshkosh. Send an email to the Chamber there and they'll send you tons of literature for the area.

Boy that Lakewood Resort place for the Tuffy Gettogether was really nice. Nice touch of northwoods with some solid on site and local amenities. The condos were absolutely beautiful. I didnt want to leave. Beautiful lake and area. Lots of good stuff close by.

As soon as I seen the place, I knew my wife would like it. We havnt done a trip yet (working on it). But figure it would be perfect of the wife and boy.

Hey Mark! I wonder if we would be able to get the same price for those condo's at Lakewood Resort. That would be great.
