| I have the chance to go fish Mille Lacs this summer. Time really doesn't matter as we can go anytime. What is one of the best times to fish up there. Mainly for walleyes. We can fish any way you would recomend, as we are set up for it all.

Location: LaCrosse, WI | June to July are suppose to be good. The only thing to consider is wether or not you want to troll. You can only troll 1 line per person in the summer there. There are still a lot of people who do it, so don't count it out as an option.
Slip bobbering on the mud flats is pretty popular as well. There are also reefs that you could work. It reminds me of a bigger Winnebago (but deeper), that requires a little more hands on jigging or slip bobbering due to the line restrictions. Good luck |

| Skip that walleyes, and fish for BIG muskies. July is a good time. Fish at night. See Steve Jonesi if you need a guide. He's the best up there, and a great guy.
Sorry, but I'm not sure I would go to fish eyes in MN with the one line reg. Too much better fishing here in good ole Sconny. |

| Yes, it a real problem fishing walleyes on Mille Lacs with only one line catching 40-50 fish per day per guy when they are going good in June. A lot of the fish are in the 22 to 27 inch range. Don't let being able to only fish 1 line stop you from fishing this lake. |

ML Guy, never said it was a problem. Just think the Muskie fishing is a better reason to drive to Mille Lacs than the walleyes with the slot limit, and the one line regulation. Sorry if I offended. Didn't mean it that way. |

| No offense taken, after fishing Pool4 with 2 rods and going to a inland lake with only one rod, it is odd, I wish thet would change that, but oh well. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | I think if you're a local or someone who spends a lot of time there the 1 line isn't that big of a deal. However, if you've never fished it before and would like to troll, it's awful hard to cover 133,000 acres and cover the water column with one rod. It certainly can be a productive body of water, but the one line makes it a bit harder to dial in a program for someone who's never been there before and doesn't know whta depth to run lures at.
If you are live bait fishing one rod is all you should need. The lake is a world class fishery for sure (I never argued that). I just think that you really need to do some research if trolling is part of your plan.
The other thing that helps with the one line over there is that the water is pretty clear so you can probably get away with running lures higher and attracting fish. It's a pretty versatile lake and can offer many ways to catch fish. Decide how you would like to catch them, then determine what lake fits your preffered technique after that. |

| Thanks guys. We live in Michigan and fish Erie and Saginaw Bay on a weekely bases, so the whole trolling thing would not be a bad thing to get away from. I grew up in Wisconsin fishing Bago, Petenwell, and many of the other flowages. Just have the opportunity to try a different body of water. Would love to get back on a good live bait rigging bite again, it has been a while. |

| I didn't mean it was a problem, I should have been more clear. Us Minnesota guys are used to the one line deal. On Mille Lacs you can typically find fish with your graph and then fish them. If they aren't on the graph just keep moving until you find them. They will typically bite if you find them.
I'm with Moreyes on the 2 lines for MN, I wish we could do it. At least we have our border waters where we can use 2 lines. |

| I was there last year from end of May to June 1st. The fishing was great. Mostly live bait rigging. Caught lots and lots of slot fish and it was a great time.
