Deputy dog,
We atayed at the Makokibatan Lodge. It is a great set up and very nice if you want the complete American plan. Heck they delivery coffee and juice to the cabin in the morning. We really wanted to do the Makok Outpost because we like doing stuff our self, but the outpost was booked. The nice thing is you fly into Makokibatan Lodge and then load boats with your gear and go dow the lake about eight miles to the cabin. They have a daily shore lunch that everyone is able to take part in or they will have a shore lunch box packed and in your boat in the morning if you choose to do your own. That is what we did. We were the first group in of the year when we went and the ice had just went out the week before we arrived. The Walley fishing was great, we took a guide one day down the river for big brook trout also. The norther fishing was slow because they were on the spawn. We could see them but they would not hit the baits. Steve runs a good camp and is very strict with his help. We got to know the workers really well, and for example they told us they werent even allowed to have a beer after they got done with work. The only time they could was on Sunday evening and it was limited to one. All our fish were cleand wrapped and frozen when we left. My only thing I would say to not get fooled by is they make it sound like they do not allow minnows, so we did not bring any. In fact they just would prefer that you don't bring them but have no problem if you do. So we had a very limited minnow supply. The ones we had we got from the dock workers which were ones people left. The cool thing is you are so far north it doesn't get dark to almost 11:00 p.m. Good Luck
