| The 2008 In Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail details were announced this evening.
Four regionals, the 2007 Championship, and a one day 2008 Championship out of Hudson Wisconsin directly following the 4th regional on that water highlight the regular schedule. The Championship will take place the day after the 4th regional concludes on the St. Croix, and features a $50,000.00 cash payout to the winner as a portion of the purse. Angler of the Year will also be decided at that event, perhaps creating one of the most action packed events from the PWT to date.
Added to the schedule and replacing the Super Pro event of 2007 in Dryden Ontario is the 2008 PWT Can AM, an event sure to draw a full field and plenty of press. Gary Parsons leads the US team, and John Butts the Canadians, both teams promising to dominate the other.
The PWT adjusted payouts, scheduling, and format in reaction to fewer sponsor dollars for the 2008 competition, and added the 2008 one day shootout Championship to close out 2008, and start 2009 with a clean slate for the the Trail, it's sponsors and it's Professional and Co Anglers.
Entry fees, payouts and all other important 2008 information can be viewed at the PWT webiste. According to Jim Kalkofen, the Regionals will pay $44,000 cash to first place, $14,500 second, $10,500 third, and so on to $2300.00 for 30th place.
There are incentive payouts and contingencies as well adding up to $44,000.00 to the total purse per event.
Entry fees for the Pros will be $1400.00 per event, out of which $100 per event is a surcharge that will go to the Championship payout from second place down.
