I am in the process of putting together a 4 day walleye fishing trip in northern Minnesota and am considering going to upper red lake.

The time frame fro my trip is the 15-18th of may.

I was wondering if anyone would care to share their experience fishing this water.

Numbers of fish? Size range? Special considerations?

Thanks,

Steve

You should have no trouble catching a lot fo fish if the wind doesn't blow out of the west. Finding a few fish in the very tight slot to take home and eat is going to be a very difficult challenge.

Great Lake!...You will catch zillions of walleyes...If you are camping..Bog State Park is an excellent place to camp (right on the river going into upper Red)..they also have sleeper cabins for around $36 per night...the other poster was right, if there is a strong wind from the west, you will have some huge rollers...
Jigging, bottom bouncing, rigging and cranks all will produce..and don't forget about those super large toothers...make sure you have a lake chip, don't want to go on the reservation...feel free to call me 701-238-1362 if you have additional questions...
