Location: Rhinelander | Absolutely stunning weather greeted the Pros as they launched this morning onto Lake Erie out of Port Clinton Ohio. Warm temps, softer breezes, and partly sunny skies promise to make travel easy on the Big Lake, and allow the water to warm and settle out after a very cold and windy pattern dominated the prefish.
There's some concern the water may clear a bit more than is desirable, which may cause some adjustments to be made by Pro's on pods of big 'Eyes out in the open water. Everyone we talked to is delighted with the comfortable weather, but a few Pros, including Mike Kuzdzal ( Day One leader, going out in 14th this morning) and Chris Gilman, (Second place Day two) actually would prefer a little more wind.
Several Pros are headed to the reefs first thing to get a limit before hitting the trolling bite. "You always fish 'better' when you have a limit in the box." explained Eric Olson in a WalleyeFIRST interview this morning.
G3's Jonathan Shoemaker said he feels the day will be one of the best so far
