| I was guided in G/B for walleyes by a big name guide, PAID $450 A DAY, and this guide, fish with us, caught the biggest fish, and offered no help as to where to cast or bait placement on the casts, this guy scream at other boats from IL, told them to go home and called them losers, is this the norm for WI guides ???????? |

| Did you pay him? I would not pay a guide if he was a jerk and an idiot. |

Location: Rhinelander | No, it isn't, obviously. I guide in Wisconsin, and would never think of behaving like that, but that's me. I don't think many guides would. Maybe this fellow was having a really bad day, hard to say. I don't have a Captain's Lic. so I can't guide the Great Lakes, but that isn't a factor here. Sorry you had a bad experience; wouldn't it be more productive to personally tell the Guide how you feel? |

| Well he got no tip !!! we paid him and got the hell out of there. We fish for 2 days with this A/H and this is how he was. This guy has a BIG NAME guide and has been on TV. Would like to go back , can someone give a name of a good guide ??? |

| First off, I would like to complimet you for not naming the guide, who may not visit this site and be able to explain himself, if that would be at all possible.
Sorry you had a bad experience. Fishing those waters requires a captains license, which generally will get you only the most committed professionals, who I would expect would act professionally. Should you decide to go back with another guide, there are many folks who will treat you right.
Take care,
Jim O |

| I would of put the word out to everbody who this guide is. You hired him to be a professional and to act like one and to guide you on techniques of fishing, if you do not have any. Nobody owns the water. I think he needs to explain his actions or if it was legitimate to do so. You payed him to do a job. It should of been a $100.00 day. Hope for better luck on the next guide RWS. |

| We are all not like that. It is too bad this happens. It is funny how sometimes I hear stories of "Big Name Guides" I have known for years and knew them when they were not guides or before they got big and they seemed to have changed a bit. There are lots of good guys out there. Don't give up.
When I take people out my goal (besides putting you on fish) is to make sure you learn something new. I believe in a hands on approach and like to take the time to help everyone in the boat catch fish or at least have fun with the experience.
Give me (www.finfanatic.net) or my buddy (www.hawgeyes.net) a call.

Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | yes yes RWS , though inquiring mindes would love to know who this guide was i think you should give it another shot. there are plenty of guys out there who can do a great job for you on the water... in my breef days guiding my customers loved the presentation and how and why it worked . even other options less productive were used to expose them to ways to catch fish and why... simple stuff like waterclairity and jiggin vs. trolling , though the water was too murky for trolling success if a customer wanted to see how things were done because he comes back later in the year with his buddy when the water clears up .. hey its his dollar and take an hour and help the cust out.. , most of the complements i had gotten were things like .. let the cust handle the boat , or help anchor , show them where everything in the boat is so they dont feal helpless when they need bait or a plyers , all the little stuff.. and be entertaining .. good stories are fine and always a hit but the best storyies come from the paying customers... and you know how people love to talk... FIND a BETTER GUIDE rw and enjoy the days on the water.. e-mail me if you need some ref , the best trips are always the ones that your having such a good time you forget to count the fish because of the good conversation and experience.. when a guide says well , time to stop walleyefishing got our limmit... need some perch? we still have 2 hours to kill and i have a honey hole! here drive the boat a min wile i dig out the sammaches..... dont give up RW |

| wow...I was involved in almost the exact same situation with a well known and obviously over rated guide this last weekend as well !!! He spent more time worrying about his fishing than ours ! He offered my friend no help with the ins and outs of the water we were on and was not only rude to us but also a pair of gents in an Ill. boat. I'm guessing its the same person and for the sake of those truly professional guides.. I hope so ! There's some big eye's up there and yes we'll go back but not with that individual !!! |

| I think it's pretty sad that all of you would rather spend time on the internet bashing a fishing guide who can't even explain himself then be productive by doing something else. I think it would be to your advantage to speak with this person and figure it out that way. It can be considered a criminal offense to slander someone like that you know. You may not have mentioned his name, but the last poster decided to and it's not hard to figure out. Not very smart.
Maybe the guy did have a bad day, and for you to judge? How would each of you feel if on one of your really bad days someone decided to slander your name and say you were stupid and and ass. Doubt it would make you feel good. I just simply think you should think before you speak. No one deserves to be treated like that, no matter the circumstance. Especially since the poor guy doesn't even know whats being said and can't even defend himself. Looks like this crowd really isn't as mature as assumed and I doubt I will listen to your insight. I'd rather associate myself with people who can show a little respect and realize they've probably all been in the same, if not very similar situations. |

Location: Berlin | I for the most part agree with you STMS and I rarely get involved with posts like this one. Unfortunately this one in particular goes WAY beyond one instance and the acts of this one person has effected my life personally. I have spoke my mind directly to this person in the past so this will not come as a shock the them.
The public perception of tournament anglers/guides is always under close watch. We all know this and it is our job to behave in a professional manner no matter what the circumstance. The initial question was "Are all guides like this?". I think we have answered that question. Not only that but now Joe Public knows how outraged we are that one of our own would act in such a manner. We need to police our own and this thread is doing exactly that.

It can be considered a criminal offense to slander someone like that you know. QUOTE]
Um, no. Not a criminal offense. Nobody is going to go to jail for calling someone a name. Civially, it could cost someone some moey, but only if what was said is proven to be untrue.
But, if a guide truly does treat his clients that way, well then word of mouth should be enough to reduce, and ultimately affect the way he conducts himself. I don't know who this is, and don't care, but I do suspect he is not unaware of what is being said about him here. Hopefully he gets it, and acts accordingly in the future. |

| Captain Brett Jolly is new at the guiding Green Bay, but he is a riot to fish with, have had a ton of compliments from my clients that fished with him, is wonderfully outfitted and has been whackin' the daylights out of them recently. |
