| I own a lund rebel 1650 tiller model, but put the console in it and have a 2004 50 hp 4 stroke mercury. Since the purchase of the motor, the dealer I got it from has been giving me different pitched props trying to get more performance. At the moment I believe I am at a 13 pitch prop, which has gotten the boat to plane out so much better with 3 people in the boat and gets up to speed. The boat runs about 30mph atm at top speed. Another concern is that I do like to pull plugs a lot in the summer and with the purchase of a gps unit this year, I just found out that my motor is pulling plugs about 2.3mph which seems fast to me. I might be able to kick down the motor idle speed a bit, but I do have problems of the motor killing at times at the current idle speed. Maybe its just loading up on fuel because it takes time for it to kill while trolling.
My question is on props mainly, I don't know much about them, I seen props you can buy at bass pro and cabela's that suppose to help performance. Is my current boat and motor combo at it maximum speed or is there something more I can do for it. Any help would be appreciated in this matter. thanks | |

| I have the same motor on my tracker targa 16ft and I put on a hydrotroll from cabelas and it slows it down to 1.0 mph. The only problem I had was when I first put it on it went to slow and had no control, had to cut a little off of the plate to make it work good. I have also seen lots of people with bigger motors have problems with them breaking but I have not had that problem. | |
