I am considering purchasing a used 2002 ranger 619 with a 200 evinrude di. Wondering if there were any mechanical problems with this motor. Was told by a salesman while looking for at a new ranger that this year motor had major problems with realibilty. Is this a true statement. Seeking advise on 2002 di evinrude motor. thanks

I don't own one of these motors, but I researched them when I was looking for a boat. The motors made after bombardier took over were generally good motors. The OMC motors were the ones with the problems. I think Bombardier took over sometime in 2000, but I am not 100% sure about that.

Location: Lake Erie | The 2002 motors are good motor, they fixed the problems after 01, I had an 2003 250 di and it was a good motor, couple minor issues but nothing related to major componets or powerhead failure like the bad ones did. thirsty motor though that's for sure, my new opti is 30% better on gas. |

I have an 04 DI 225 HO, has been a good motor, one thing that made a hugh difference for me was out in LBDN FLW TOUR event the Evinrude rep put ETECH plugs in and it has ran flawlessly ever since, before it would burn through plugs a couple times per year, good on gas, good on oil. strong motor I would not be afraid to buy again, Good luck Kannon

What type of plugs do the E-Tec's use, because I to have an 04 and have to change plugs a couple times a year?
