Location: Manitowoc, WI | Congrats Cory and Jason. Great job on a tough bite. The whole upper Winnebago system was pretty much chocolate soup. We tried everything we could think of and couldn't pull a fish. It was 35 degrees at take off and I've never been so cold on a boat in my life. Ski goggles came in handy to keep the eyes from watering on the way out. Again Nice job you two!

Location: Menasha, WI | Hey cory, this is Axl, congrats on your win. You made a huge decision by running up north and pounding on some fish. These guys that are dogging you did not fish the tournament and have no clue how tough it was. You were the man this past Sunday, and all kudos to you. I tried to fish on Sunset point and we had fish, but nothing over 15 except for the 40 plus sturgeon. We also had a few sheeps and whities in the mix.Glad to see you get the win, and sorry I could not make it to Tony's for the post tournament celebration, but I had to go to work and build fire trucks. See you soon my friend! Nice Win, you earned it!

Location: Green Bay, WI | The first time I met Cory, I had him as a Co in a league event. We jigged for the first part of the day. I can't remember if he put both the fish we got jigging in the box or if it was one and one. The only mistake was letting him talk me into letting a 14 incher go. That one cost us a check!
So YES he can work a jig stick! |

| top 5 teams = $10,000, so where was the other $20,000 spent? |

Not sure how you came up with a $10,000 payout. We paid out over $16,000 in cash paid out. In addition we had over $1300 dollars in merchadice going to the anglers. I never said there was going to be $20,000 payout. If you want to discuss the either e-mail [email protected] or call 920-731-3474
Thanks

| The payout for the top 5 adds up to about $10,000, so another 6,000 went to the rest of the paid places to = the $16,000 you paid back to contestants. There were 112 teams, 112 X approximately $275/team = roughly $30,000. So $30,000 minus 16,000 still leaves about $14,000. I am not saying you do anything wrong just asking for an accounting of the $. |

| FYI
Entry Fee is 250
Some of the money goes towards the championship. The rest I believe goes to tfm after all tournament expenses are paid.
Good Question
I often wonder the same thing |

| CT, Jim already posted a e-mail address and telephone number to give you all the details. Why not do that instead of all this other hype? If you think his job is a big moneymaker, form your own circuit and rake in the big bucks yourself. |

P.S. I love the 50/50! Great idea:) |

| you people are hilarious, read my post!! I never accused Jim of anything nor did I say he ran a bad tourney. I know he does it very well, but does that mean he is beyond reproach or should not disclose the profit margin of peoples money? Of course he should be paid for his time and effort, I simply am asking how much went to each part of the tourney. I believe Jim is a big boy and don't need others to jump in here and be his big brother or make false conclusions about my question. |

Location: Berlin | I never mentioned you CT so I am not sure where you are coming from.
You can do the math so I guess I don't see the point in bringing this up. If the numbers don't add up to you, don't fish or else give Jim a call. TFM is a private comapany so he does not have to tell you anything but I am sure he will. Nobody is playing big brother here. Jim is a friend who runs a top notch circuit honestly. I guess I don't see where you have a problem with us saying that. |

Location: Berlin | The numbers are all there for you to see. Jim does not ask me how I spend my money so I am not going to ask him how he spends HIS money. I don't blindly sign up for anything, I run the numbers and decide whether or not I want to participate. It really is pretty simple. Glad we both agree on Jim and how he runs a circuit. |

| C.T this thread should be about cory and jasons big win and not about your worrying about what jim makes as profit. Why dont you call him and ask? Cory and jason congrats on your win. great job. |

| Thanks Scott for posting a congrats for me, anyway, nice work to Cory and Jason. |

| Hey ct,
Did ya fish the tourney?
I did...
It was brutal in the morning but I can tell you that Jim had the system down and all went as planned.A smoother tourney start I've never seen. A great bunch of fishermen that enjoyed a chance to competitively fish against each other.
My partner & I donated our entry fee to Cory & Jason, your welcome Cory & Jason! I'd fish a tourney Jim organized ANY day of the week.
Ps...If anybody pulls up a blue tackle box out of the 41 bridge area filled with brand new walleye divers...well, its a long story...... |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Hey CT:
How much money do you earn annually? Do you have a tax shelter retirement package? How much money do you have socked away in the bank? Do you hide any income from the Mrs. or the IRS. What's your phone number so you and I can discuss your finances. |
|

|
| Just for you sunshine I'll try to explain the difference: Tourneys are publicly held events. I couldn't care less how much income Jim has from his private job, I simply asked for a breakdown of the remaining $. Is that supposed to be a big secret? If so then I do have concerns, as should all participants. A responsible director would simply post it.
By the way, my income is public as I work for a government agency. |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Well, I guess we'll just agree to disagree then. Carnivals are public events to, but I see no reason or means to see how much the organizers make. I can speculate all I want by figuring out how many people may show up and how many rides they go on. But in the long run, it's none of my business. Closer to home, with a more valid analogy, race car drivers make some good change if they win or place high. I wonder if they try or question how much money the organizers take in? I do tournaments, and I decide whether it is in my best interest to participate in individual tournaments or a series. There are variables that I take into consideration with the big part of the equation being the percent of payback given to anglers. I could care less if the organizer is making zero, $1, $100 or $100,000 as long as I feel that I am being fairly treated. If I'm not getting enough and he/she is getting too much than I complain or I move on. Is this what you are hinting at? If not move on. As others have indicated, it's not rocket science to figure out the gross take from an event. (even though you seem to have difficulty). Most people can do the math and figure out the % payback from entry money. If you are happy you enter, if not you may decide to bash organizers on web sites using an anonymous handle. For the record, I really do not believe that tournament directors have to disclose their profits to anyone. They have to declare the possible prizes, that's how their fees are determined now. But I do not believe that they have to provise income or profits to anyone but the IRS. It's one thing if you work for a public entity like being a teacher. In that case, yes, you can find out their salaries. It's another if you pay for a permit and have an organized event on public land. In that case, you are just being a snoop.

| Yes we agree to disagree, I can't debate with anyone who compares going to a carnival with fishing a tournament |

| These tournaments are not public events. They are conducted by private owned businesses. As such, there is no requirement to disclose to you, or anyone else how much money is made off these events. You want to know what the payback is, figure it out. I don't see the same questions asked of Jacob Irwin about the FLW events.
You have no more right to know what Jim makes off these events, than what he makes in his full time job. It's none of your business. If you don't like the payout, don't fish the events. It's that simple. Open to the public does not mean the books are open to the public. Lots of businesses are open to the public. Not many are going to give access to their financials. |

| I often wondered! Thats why I got out of the series. That was my choice. I felt some shaddy things were going on. Just my opinion. Nice win Cory and Jason condtions were brutal. |
