Well were three days from the PWT championship on Saginaw Bay starting Friday. What do you guys think it's going to take to win this one and who do you think will pull that weight?

Following in the footsteps of his Dad, I'll pick Danny Plautz with 63 lbs for the win.

I believe that you are 1/2 right. Those lists are who qualified, not necessarily who is participating. As an example, I believe that Eric Schuelke is not going.

For the record, I'll pick our own Johnny Candle

Can you tell me this, why would a person choose not to participate in a tournament where there is no entry fee and everyone gets a check at the end? That would about cover costs. Unless its personal.

Dave has 1 win there and 1 at st. claire. In all fairness the one he won at saginaw was a one day event. But that does not take away the fact that he won, just a FYI.

I think the odds on favorite has got to be Scott Glorvigen. Reason??? He won the FLW Championship in 2000, the PWT Championship in 2004, you see the system here. He seems to win the big show every 4 years. Hence, in 2008, he is due to win again.

How's that for overthinking the situation:)

Keep in mind that the pros are only allowed to weigh in 4 fish per day. They do this so that culling is allowed. For example, if a pro landed a 5th fish...they'd be done for the day, since a 6th cull fish would put them over the limit. Anybody that can get 18-20lbs per day is going to be right in the thick of things.

I have seen my name here and on another board. Because of ongoing back problems I had to withdraw from the championship. I am unable to tournament fish anymore.

The one thing that you fish for is to make the championship, it was a very hard decision to make. I agree with you Stacker, why wouldn't a guy fish. I felt I couldn't compete. I can't be in a boat for more then a couple hours at a time. So I couldn't efficiently pre-fish, and surely couldn't compete. The competitor that I am, I didn't just want to show up and go through the motions, just to cash a check. Talking with JK, I told him I would rather give up my spot to someone that could have a chance.

Eric,
I am so sorry to hear that. Back problems are the worst and the tournament world won't be the same without you. Hang in there bud and I hope your back can heal.

In reply to 4fish.

Michigan is a culling state. they can put 5 in the well and cull another 30 if they so desire. Where did you find that there is only a 4 fish limit? I must have missed it.

Eric, as I said, it must be personal. Thanks for your decision to share this with the walleye world. This is exactly what we need to get this sport growing. Not speculation, just facts.

If it means anything, I think you should have went and collected the check that you earned. It is your right and thats that.

Eric, sorry to hear that back is still limiting you. That's a tough deal. I tend to agree with Stacker, though. You earned that spot, and the check, by your previous work. Hope you find something else to feed that competitve fire.

Thanks for checking in.

The rules for the championship is 4 fish, period. I live in Michigan so I have what I think is a pretty good handle on the law. If you have 5 fish in your well, continue fishing and land a 6th fish, you are in posession of 6 fish and in violation of the law. The championship is 4 fish so nobody gets into violation.

That would be correct. Talked to a couple guys tonight and they are happy with that and glad to be able to play with that 5th fish spot.
