I have '97 1900 Pro-V. I am replacing the batteries. Coming out of my trolling motor receptacle (24 volt) are 4 wires, 2 black (1 with a blue stripe), 1 orange, and 1 red. I didn't label the wires last year when I took them off. Now I don't remember, where they go. Does the black with blue stripe and orange go to opposing batteries, and the red and black to the other posts on opposing batteries? Also there is a short jumper that was hooked up, where does that go. Then everything else that got hooked up (12 volt) would be both wires to the same battery? Does this make sense? This is just for trolling motor, and electronics, I have a seperate starting battery. I have about 6 different answers from other sites, anyone here know? Thanks for the input. WTA

WTA,

Best thing you could do is go back to the battery and look at where each wire is connected and figure out what you're dealing with. Right now any ones guess would be as good as the next. Unfortunately, T/M plug wiring is not standardized and vary's from boat manufacture to boat manufacture and in some cases even boat to boat.

Typically, you will have two 12V positive wires and 1 negative. and the jumper is used to get your 24V at the plug by giong from post to post.

Sorry, can't be more help. Good Luck

I wish I could but the old batteries were taken out last year, and I have the new ones ready to put in, but just don't know where they go. Thanks, someone might know.

I think you will need to use a continuity testor and "reverse engineer" the circuit. Sounds like it is a 12/24 Volt system, so you will need to determine which wires carry 12 Volts and which carry 24 Volts by tracing the wires back to the equipment that is powered off these batteries. There are 12/24 volt schematics on the internet that you can then reference to wire the system...if you leave an email, I can probably help you through it since this will probably require a bit of explaination both ways.

I just converted my 36 volt to a 24 volt system with my new 24 volt Autopilot.

On mine, the red (Positive) on one battery goes to the Red on the trolling motor and the Black from the other Battery (Negitive) goes to the Black on the trolling motor.  The jumber cable goes on the remaining terminals of the batteries and is hooked up positive to negative, thus giving you a 24 volt inline connection to the motor.  I suspect the other wires are for the harness for your 12 volt harness for whatever you are running on that circut that is 12 volts.

I will give you the best advise from all the sites you have visited. If you take the typed word as the truth regarding your boat, best of luck to you. If you go to the nearest fishing boat dealer and talk with them while you have the boat attached to your truck so they can see it if they like, you will have a better shot at getting the hook up correct.

As purple skeeter said, I suspect. Thats like guessing and that is all anyone here can do.

Does the boat contain a jumper plug to jump the motor to the troll batteries incase the main runner is dead?

i am assuming so. this is a 12/24 volt wiring application commonly found in boats. (all warriors)
in this wiring system i believe u should wire your trolling motor up 24v with a jumper between.. and the 12 volt 1 lead goes to each terminal..

that make sence?? let me know if its got the jumper plug..

I don't remember how Lund wired their boats. Best advice is what stacker says. Hook it up, and tow it to a Lund dealer.

As for how to connect? It will depend on the plug to the trolling motor. Some have the jumper inside the plug, so all the wiring would be to each battery. Hard to say what you have there, without actually seeing it.

Where are you located?

I am in Chippewa Falls. Funny thing is I stopped at the Lund dealer last night, and the service guys weren't sure. They said I would have to ask the rigger, who works 8-4:30. I can't get there by then though.

Try another dealer and remember that when you buy your next boat.
