| Question for you guys that have tried a few props. was there much for speed differnts between the four to the five? |

Many people ask if they should go with a 3, 4 or 5 blade prop. My simple answer is that you give up something while gaining something else. As you can imagine, the 4 blade prop is generally the compromise between the 3 and the 5.
If you are looking a great hole shot and a boat the "digs" into the bigger waves better, you go with the 5 blade. What you give up is top end speed.
If you are a speed demon and want the maximum top end speed you go with the 3 blade prop. Some people go as far as buying an expensive high performance 3 blade or have rework done to their blade to shave and recup.
The 4 blade is the compromise blade. You will loose a little at top end and loose a little of the gripping effect of the 5 blade. But it'll be faster than a 5.
Every boat and motor is different but I'd say as a general rule, you will loose 1-2 mph per blade change. You could see 2-4 mph difference between a 3 to a 5.
The more blades in the water (3 compared to a 5) the more water resistance at high end rpms thus drag which slows you down. |

| That was a pretty perfect answer. Alot of guys that fish Green Bay have a High-five they use for rough-water days and a 3 or 4 blade for use on calmer days or more predictable bodies of water. |

| Thanks for the answer. That gives me a bench mark and owning a tiller speed was not at the top of the list when I ordered the boat I did. I was looking for good hole shot no matter the load and back trolling is at the top of the list also. |
