Fished on Poygan Saturday and Sunday... Did not want to fight the wind on the East shore of bago. We caught over 50 Walleyes ranging in size from 10 inches to 17 inches, all caught running 40 feet back @ 1.9 mph on Hollywood Flicker shad, Brown Gold Shad Raps and Walleye Shad Raps. We also caught quite a few Whitebass and Sheeps. We did try running harnesses up in the west end on Saturday when the wind was blowing 30 MPH, but could only manage a couple of small Eyes and more whitebass and sheephead then I cared to mess with. All our fish came on the South shore in 8 feet of water from the West end of the lake to the cane beds. If your looking for a mess of eater size Walleyes, try Poygan in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the info PS. It is very much appreciated!! I took my 78 year old dad out Saturday on Poygan because the forecast I saw said winds of 10-13 and diminishing around noon. Not what happened at all. We only managed two on Saturday and 5 on Sunday which all came between 10:30 and 11:30 for some reason. It matters not to me how many I catch by myself or with a buddy, but it means so much to be able to catch fish when I have my dad out. I will try your tactics out!! People like you put a little more bounce in my step. Thank you Bill Runke

And Walleyeralph I will be sure to keep an eye out for lost boards. I found that one of yours on Bago last year and would like to add to the streak by finding one of yours on Poygan!! And maybe Butt des Morts could be next. The hat trick of board recovery.

Still getting Walleyes on Poygan every day this week, same baits, 6-9 feet of water, 25-40 back, 1.5 mph to 1.8 mph. Lots of 14 - 15 inch Walleyes and a couple over 18 each trip.

Best spot continues to be the entire South shoreline from east to west depending on the wind. I've been hitting the water at 5 am and off by noon so I can't tell you what the afternoon or night bite is like.

I tried Bago today out of High Cliff before the storms blew through. 2 nice 19 inch Walleyes and 2 Whitebass on Green Pearch Little rippers 100 back on fireline in 19 feet of water. I would have stayed out longer but every time I picked up my rods, I would get a 1/8 inch electrical shock to my hand and the rods were tingleing. And since I got hit by lighting once before in the early 80's, I figured someone upstairs was sending me a message to get off the lake "Right Now!"

Ran Poygan on Friday for the Valley Home Builders tournament and we took 4th place.... and I got a check for $25 bucks for a 25 inch sheephead.

Our fish came on Cranks in the morning and Harnesses in the afternoon. Over all we put 30+ Walleyes in the boat. Most were in the 15 inch range with enough over that to put us in 4th. Water was dirty, but we still had a blast. I got the chance to fish out of a new 1880 Skeeter with a 200 HPDI. Lots of room in the back for 2 guys to fish and I even got used to fishing out of a boat that was not purple for a change.

Congrats to the Denny who not only won the tournament, but also cashed a $3000 bonus from Skeeter for winning the tournament and running a new 08 21 foot Skeeter.

e-mail me if you need any details.

Nice job! Can you give us some details about the tournament? Number of entrants, winning weight, payout etc. I have not heard of this tournament before, might be one to put on the calendar for next year.

Rich,

It's only for the members and guests of the Valley Home Builders Association. There are 50-90 teams each year and you can fish anywhere on the bago system. The top prizes are very small and it's designed to be a fun tournament. Greg from Anchor Marine registers the tournament each year and the prize money from Skeeter is only there if you drive a Skeeter and it depends on the year of your boat.
