| I have a 18ft deep v Crestliner, powered by a 175efi 2 stoke. I am looking at a new prop for this rig and looking for a starting point. I want to keep some speed but what I want is to get on plane. Any input ?? |

| we will need more info.. as far as what to recommend.. u should start with 19 20 or 21 pitch.
also need to know how much of your trim is used. this provides a base point for bow or stern lift.
jack plate / or not.
Most important we need some baseline states mph@rpm with plane times..
prop it with low pitch on an empy load.. once you pack the weight in you will need it to get on plain. |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Basic proping. Dont over think this. Use a high 5 on that rig and you will enjoy the all around performance, about a 21 should do it, maybe 23.

| I honestly dont think a high 5 would be the best choice for this rig. id recommend a starting point of a 3 blade SS 19 or 21pitch.. u will lose quite a few mph with a high 5, gains will be better control if porpusing and a sweet torque plane times.. |

Prop guy, little lost on what you were trying to get at here, however, did you read his original post. It stated he wanted to get out of the hole, a hole shot is required of his new prop. HI 5 does just that, it is the hole shot king. as far as losing MPH on top end, well, I have done this for a living for 15 years, and by the way, my nick name is HI 5, and I have yet to lose "quite a few" mph on top end. | I ran a trophy 21 4 blade, a Rev 4 23 4 blade, and a Hi 5 23 last year on my 1890 with a 200. The fastest was the Rev 4. The best hole shot by far was the Hi 5, and I lost a mile and a half to two per hour GPS depending on conditions, that's all. Could be different on other boats, I'm just reporting what I found. |

| Stacker im not trying to shoot ya down.
HI-5's are great props. but they are great props for specific applications.
heavy load hole shots - less vibration - control of porpousing at high speeds.
they work excellent on bass boats and low riding high HP walleye boats.
Since you have a deep v aluminum walleye boat.. You will be much happier with a 3 blade. You must be very close to max HP.
The right 3 blade will plane out as good as you can notice vs a 5 blade
Look for things such as adjustable vent holes for the exhaust. they use exhaust to help bring RPM's up and it helps provide a better hole shot under heavy loads..
Trust me. For this application. your ultimate performance will come from a 3 blade.
if all you care about is holeshot 5 blade will be the easy fix.
but so are smart tabs if you wouldnt them being there.

...With all due respect, it is in my PROFESSIONAL OPINION, you are misleading this individual with wrong information regarding this issue. 1/2 of what you said is 180 degrees off.
