Location: Stevens Point, WI | Ninety-nine boats left this morning from the Green Bay Metro boat launch in search of what Green Bay is known for; BIG FISH. As a severe front pushed through the area by mid afternoon, winds came up and some struggled to fish where they wanted but others rolled the dice and traveled as far as Green Island up by the Menominee River near Marinette.
Paul DeVoss and Steve Keller chose to stay close to home to do their damage with a weight of 32lbs and 13 ounces to claim first place and a combined check for $10,895.00.
Almost the entire field trolled crawler harnesses, the summer standard on the Bay of Green Bay. Catching fish wasn't issue, but what to keep and when to keep it. Many struggled adding smaller fish to their limit because in hindsight, anglers know what Green Bay can kick out.
Adam Adler and co-angler Daniel Hoffman finished second with a weight of 28 lbs. even to take home a combined check for $5,598.00. Third place went to Joseph Mans and Steve Weller with a weight of 27lbs and 13 ounces worth $4,755.00.
Korey Sprengel and Chris Kuehn boated 25lbs. and 2 ounces to take fourth place and a combined check for $3,713.00. To round out the top five, Joe Jochman and co-angler Jason Koschnik boated a weight of 24lbs and 15 ounces worth $3,270.00.
Congratulations to Nate Provost for finishing 8th and earning the $1,000.00 check from Toyota as the Toyota Truck Walleye Rewards program winner.
