I was out in Heavy rain with my new 1760GC Esox and started getting "Pooling" of water on my front deck, It got to the point that it overflowed the dry box seal and got wet in there. It happens on the forward/right side of the rod locker. I see there are no holes for drainage around the hatch openings,, Could/ Should a guy drill some?? Just wondering if anyone else has this problem???

If it's sitting on the trailer, my number one recommendation is that you crank the nose wheel ALLLLL THE WAAAY UP!!! That might/should do the trick to keep the water from pooling.

You can drill the holes, but I don't think you'll need them if you listen to what Slamr said. If you do that, you for sure won't have a problem when the boat is on the trailer.

*This is not for sure, it's a possible to probably fix. I had pooling in my 1760 last year even when cranked to the limit. Cranking the boat definitely HELPED with the water issues, but did not fully fix the problem. So when my boat went to the factory for some minor cosmetic details/fixes, the guys in the factory put drains in my compartments. Drilling from the deck down...not so sure I would feel comfortable doing that.

*Excuse me, well I guess speaking from my experience when cranking the jack all the way up I haven't had an issue since. As for drilling holes, Bob at Mr. Marine where I got my boat drilled two holes where the batteries are located. The two holes are located in each corner towards the back of the boat.. The corner pointed toward the driver and one toward the passenger side.

If you didn't already have it done, make sure the plug is pulled. Most of the water should just flow right out.

I am not so sure I would advise to drill holes in the storage compartments. That is a sure way to let moisture from the bilge area infiltrate a dry storage.

I would call Tuffy and ask about the one way drains they have installed in the newer models. It will allow moisture out if it is ever needed, but won't suck any in to potentially destroy the items in your storage that should not be getting wet.

This would be a much better solution than just drilling holes.

I was thinking of drilling drains in the area between the rod locker and the dry storage and another between the rod locker and the cooler, Twards the front of the compartments, not in the compartments . I figure the water could then drain into the hull before it gets to deep and overflows the compartment "lip" and seal.

Your trouble is definitely an elevated (or not) bow. If you are alone in a downpour and on the front deck, expect water to pool because the nose of the boat is down. On the trailer, one needs to crank her all the way up when stored outside.

Drain holes in the battery compartment rear corners is OK, but I'd not drill holes in the storage areas OR the deck without talking to Tuffy about where and how first.
