| Why don't they pick a better date for this event? Can't wait to see a bunch of floaters in the river again. |

|
| Maybe it can make the news again. Great publicity! |

| The Sheboygan Walleye Club is taking extra efforts to assure nothing like that will happen agan.
If you havnt fished it, It's a very well run tourny that gets a great turnout of high class fisherman. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | In reference to "a bunch of floaters", there were less than 10 fish found floating from the tourney last year. SWC has taken measures to assure this will not happen. First, we will have two pontoons with aerated tanks on each, to make sure the fish are released quickly. Second, SWC members will be involved in evaluating whether each fish will be released or donated to the local food pantry. Third, we have worked out a better system for getting the fish quickly from each boat to the scales, and then to the tanks on the pontoon.
SWC is dedicated to the advancement of walleye habitat, improving water quality, creating laws and rules that are easy to follow, promoting walleye fishing for all, assisting those who choose to follow an educative course that directly affects water management and fish biology, and is involved in stocking programs on Lake Winnebago and various inland lakes in WI. Most of the members are also member of Walleyes for Tomorrow, and they work hand in hand to ensure our resource is viable and will be passed on from generation to generation.

| I think its pretty dumb to have it the same time the mws is having their tournament that eliminated 70+ boats that could have fished yuor battle my opionion and why would the top 25 give up their chance to make the championship??? |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Hey guest I will say it. The MWS Moved there date to the same day as the SWC. The battle On the Bay was taking place the same weekend as in the past. I am sure Jim had a reason to move it, but none the less, that is what happened. |

I will elaborate on this subject:
In the past, there have been discussions here on WF and in other places regarding these dates, how the dates are picked, and who makes the final decision on when the tournaments are held. The Sheboygan Walleye Club went out of it's way last year to make sure no local events conflicted with the Battle on the Bay. We also established that our tournament/fund raiser will be held on this week every year.
The MWS was aware of this. In fact, it has been offered as information that the dates selected by the MWS are not the sole decision of the tournament director, and that they are voted/selected by the MWS tournament board. The tournament board for the MWS included members of the SWC last year. These members explained to the tournament director to please not conflict with the SWC's Battle on the Bay. The tournament director made it very clear that it was his ball, his court, and his game, and he would hold his tourney whenever he felt like it, whether it conflicted with the Battle on the Bay or not, much to the disappointment of the SWC board and it's members. Knowing this, the SWC decided to go ahead with the scheduled event. These are the facts.....not just statements on how the SWC was dumb it trying to run their event at the same time.
If I were fishing the MWS circuit and I knew I had little to no chance of making it's championship, I think I would take my ball and run over to the SWC's court.....just my opinion.
In the future, I hope the SWC and MWS can work together to make sure this conflict doesn't happen year after year.

| Thankyou jerry
thats why I put it out there I'm tired of the lack of communication on this subject. Its out there and now everyone knows why the conflict, its unfortunate that there will be a shortage so to speak on both sides who wins no one al least we know the facts and can go on from here. All the Sheboygan club wants to do is to raise money for future events to help lets say kids clinics for one will the mws do the same??? I may be going in the wrong direction with this but I would like you to tell people what the battle will support so that you get some reconization for your efforts and yes i know my spelling sucks today lol |

If you are stating facts make sure they are CORRECT! The facts as you stated are INCORRECT. There were reasons for this year's change.

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Jim,
Everything I stated in my repsonse is true, according to the things that were related to me by the members of the SWC who were members of your tournament board.
I was very reluctant to post that information, as it is viewed in a negative context on what is supposed to be a positive reinforcement of the Battle of the Bay. I was coaxed into relating this information and, to be quite honest, wish I had just kept this information to myself.
I'm not looking to discredit anyone, nor am I looking to make your circuit or the SWC's Battle on the Bay look good, bad or indifferent. I am sure there were extenuating circumstances which caused the MWS event to be changed to a different date. But the simple fact is, a decision and conflict, which could have easily been avoided, was not avoided.
I wish you and your circuit the very best, as the MWS has proved to be a leader in providing a mid level competition for teams in WI and surrounding areas, and I'm sure it will continue to do so in the future.

One level below the MWC, which is the top level team circuit in the country at this time. |
