| The conditions on the Mississippi changed today, taking out most of the action with rising water and current and muddied waters. That didn't deter Lund/Mercury Pro Steve Kopp and Co Angler John Reynolds from teaming up to produce the largest limit of the day of 5 fish for 10#11 ounces. Steve was fishing a current break on a wing dam that was partially protected by an island, creating a slack pool the fish didn't move out of in rising water and current conditions. He hadn't fished that pool since three days back, and was delighted to find his bite had held.
Live bait rigging was the winning technique, but some of the top ten were cranking and did pretty well considering the poor bite.
Big fish was taken by Robert Apple and Adam Humphrey at 8# 14 Ounces, netting them the Frabill Big Fish Contingency award.
Second went to Mark Michael, also 2008 Angler of the Year in the Heartland Division which nets him an entry into the FLW Tour Championship this fall. mark fished with Co David Dedecker and put a 9#9Ounce 5 fish limit in the boat.
Third through fifth were:
Galen Bremer/Chris Stutz
Robert Apple/Adam Humphrey
Mica Killinger/Gary Speicher
The top 30 in the standings head to the FLW League Championship this Fall. Watch for the FLW Walleye League Press Release covering the field for the Championship soon.
