I have a 2006 225HO with a 22 Raker on a 620 Ranger...I fished the MWC this past week and ran 30 miles at about 35mph,, after setting it down,,I tried to make a move and I could'nt get on plane,,it would only go 8 mph at 3000 rpms....When my partner went to the bow, we were able to slowly get it on plane,, but could only get 4200rpms out of it...if he was'nt at the bow ,we could'nt get on plane...nothing wrapped on prop,, no water in bilge....any ideas?.....Tom

Tom-

If it were an opti that would be a tell tale condition with a fouled plug (or two). Not sure about an etec, but possibly.

Any chance you spun the hub out of your prop?

I think if the prop was spun you could still get the R's up past 4200.

Either fouled some plugs or may have a powerhead problem. How many hours on the motor? E-tec's are not that kind on plugs. If you spun the hub you wouldn't have a rpm probelm or get on plane. Hope its the plugs. Good luck

Go see your local E-Tec dealer, sounds like a popped powerhead.

Please let all of us keyboard mechanics know what the pro's found, I'd like to be able to file this one in my memory bank for future referance.

Tom, b4 you had problems what Kind of performance were you seeing on that setup. I have the exact setup. 07 225ho620 limited.
I was running a cyclone 21 and seeing 57 but running to many r's. switched to the raker 22 and seemed to slow down and lose hole shot.

thanks in advance

Make sure the dealer checks the cylinder with the bad injector for scoring or compression loss it may have leaned out that cylinder. The next ride you take it might go pop!!

happy fishing

I'd agree, #2 cylinder has been one of the main culprits to the blown E-tecs.

I'm surprised you couldn't get on plane with only one cylinder down. Do you know if your mechanic did a compression check on all cylinders?
