Location: Rhinelander | The winds were howling this afternoon, making for tough conditions for many and a rough ride in for most. The bite was on none the less, and estimated weights before the event looked to be somewhat anemic if the average basket weight continues as it was on Day One.
Limits were common, and weights in the high teens to low twenties were required to make the top ten. Quite a few baskets contained at least one fish over 5 pounds, and at least one cracked the 7 pound mark.
Local Pros held many of the top spots at the end of Day One, but top spot went to Dan Stier with 23.33, nearly a dead heat with John Giuliani in second with 23.3. Gary Parsons holds down third with 21.44, Jason Doyon is in fourth with 21.01,Micheal McMaken holds fifth with 20.74, Tony Puccio is in sixth with 19.81, Reid Norine holds down seventh with 19.2, Richie Boggs is in eighth wityh 18.69, Danny Plautz is in ninth with 17.59, and Dave Van Oss is in tenth with 17.54.
Currently winds are ESE at 10 with rain and 59 degrees. It looks like a wet start to tomorrow as well, with winds forecast to be moderate to 15MPH out of the NW with a high of 67.
Watch for continuing coverage of the Sault Ste. Marie PWT tomorrow morning including interviews, morning images, and more.
