Location: Stevens Point, WI | Consistency is the name of the game and that's what it appears Nick Johnson has. To win at this level, it takes three solid days, and with a 21.12lb. catch today, Johnson is on track to claim the last PWT title ever.
Fishing his first PWT event, Johnson is no stranger to this position. He's been driving the Castrol boat on the FLW Tour the past seven years where he's won two events. Hot on his heels and moving up fast, Matthew Ernst made a statement saying he's here to play spoiler. After a solid 15lb+ catch yesterday, Ernst cranked it up a notch and boated 22.67lbs. to claim second place.
Day 1 leader and Lund/Mercury pro Bruce Mirabella came off an absolute stellar day yesterday to only see his 6lb. lead vaporize with a four fish performance today that weighed 8.08lbs.
Rounding out the top five are Brad Davis in fourth place with a day 2 catch of 14.96lbs. and a total weight of 32.21lbs. Fifth place is currently held by recent FLW Tour Champion Tommy Skarlis with a day 2 catch of 16.83lbs. to give him a total weight of 30.09lbs.
Tomorrows weather is calling for almost identical conditions and hopefully the big fish bite will continue. It seemed to have gotten better today with more larger fish coming to the scales.
