| Won't go into detail but after a long look at boats I have come to the tuffy 1760 esox single console...
maybe even a G model... I fish for walleye, pike, perch, bass, catfish, pretty much anything out there...
Also fish some bass tournaments too... boat would need divided livewells... I'd add the rear deck storage...
This 1760 is the size I like... would rig it with a 150 hp... tuffy seems to have a great rep here...
my biggest problem is I live in NY and nearest dealer is OHIO...
can anybody with one of these boats please post their opinions and any photos of the boats... the site and brochure pics not great... thanks for your input, hope to be in a tuffy next spring...
I just found this board and I hit the jackpot for tuffy info...
pics are good here... that 150 below is what I want, minus the kicker...

| i ran a 1760 tiller a couple years ago: extremely fishable, versatile, and more than capable on both small waters and very large waters.
i lived in Watertown, NY for 3 1/2 years; the 1760 would be an ideal rig for fishing Oneida, Black, Champlain, as well as any of the Finger Lakes or rivers. as long as you're smart about it, Lake Ontario is fine too (Slamr uses his 1760 for salmon fishing on L. Michigan) and hopping islands on the St. Lawrence...gee, i miss that part of the country!

| Yes Labeau. I plan on doing some Island hopping... I'm 3 hours away and plan on getting up there as much as possible... The fishing up there is better than its ever been... actually looking to buy a trailer up there... Oneida yes, less than 2 hours away..., champlain yes, about 10 times a year...
Watched the 1760 video last night about 50 times... neat little boat... should be a cool ride with my 150...
read over more stuff here this AM great info...
how about livewell dimensions and capacity... can it be divided?
how about mounting electronics on the dash... room for a johnny ray?
Room looks tight in the back, can you get 3 batteries in there?

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Iceman, I had a 2007 Tuffy 1760 DW with a 150 Optimax last year. It had a full windshield but it's the same boat your looking a basically, just with a dual console and a windshield. I have a bunch of pictures on my other computer of the boat, I will post them sometime today when I get time.
The livewell is a 52 inches and I'm sure you could put a divider in it, I never had the need too. As for mounting electronics, I believe there is room for a Johnny Ray mount but that will depend on what unit you put on it. Otherwise, a Ram mount works great, that's what I use. As for the batteries, you only have one battery in the back, that's your starting battery. The trolling motor batteries go below the center rod locker. They work great there. |

| Thanks again for the great info... you guys here have really been a selling point...
my biggest problem now is my bassboat that has been in the shop for a month with a blowed up etec... I made a big jump 2 years ago to a big bass boat thinking my boat problems would go away... they only got worse! now, for the second year in a row, I got a blowed up etec on my vacation... This boat has been a nightmare since day one...
So this boat has got to go before any tuffy... Oh its going all right... I'm gonna end up losing tons of money on it but welcome to boating!
tuffy looks like a great ride though... I looked at all the boats in this size range range and tuffy has the rep and value I want... gonna put some big sonars on it and a good trolling motor... Should be a blast to fish from...
I do see one problem with a G model... tying down the trolling motor for rough water... Also, speaking of trolling motors... I see lots of power drive models in this boat style... any reason as opposed to a 52" maxxum?

I'm on my 4th week without a boat so any info I get is keeping me going...

| Trolling motors are personal preference, I have MinnKota Terrova, I got that one because I like to stand in the back of the boat and run it, for example trolling crank baits. I suppose if I strictly casted from the front deck I would opt for the Maxxum.
I have the 1890 and this is my first Tuffy, it is very stable boat at rest, ride is awsome in waves and very dry, and it handles great when fishing.
I see you where asking about a divided live well? May I ask why?
Someone will chime in on the motor brace, I have the gunnel version, you may want to ask on the muskie side (dark side,they have issues over there?) of the site.  |

The trolling motor brace on the G series shouldn't be a problem. I'd image your talking about the Ram mount trolling motor brace? If so, instead of bolting or screwing it to your gunnel, you'll just put three screws in the deck. That shouldn't be an issue at all.
As for a maxxum on the boat, that won't be a problem either. I'm mainly a musky guy for most of the year and I'd prefer a power drive model most of the year. I had a Maxxum for five years prior to owning this boat. That TM won't be a problem though. An 80lb. with a 52 inch shaft will be perfect.

| more great info guys thanks... Divided livewell is for any draw type bass tournaments I fish... I fish a few Weekend Series, BFL's and one Stren series at the thousand islands( the family vacation and tourney combo)... most of the time I fish for bass cause its the only show in town with my limited time off... no walleye tournaments either around here... spring time i do some catfish, pike stuff and been known to put a few lakers in the boat casting. (If you never had a 10# laker hit a topwater, your missing something) The whole multi species, bigwater ride of this Tuffy is very apealling right now...
moreyes, I saw your boat in BWB... nice, that is one reason I started looking at tuffy harder...
your sinkers are nice too...
Devoe, I currently use a maxxum 80# 50" inch motor with the MK fold down brace. looks to me I might have to just make the arm longer... I'm good to go...
I'm leaning towards a high end X38 on the dash, with my old X-15 on the trolling motor...
I'm not a troller much, but like the optional plug in the back for a stern TM...

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Iceman, I own a 2060DS Osprey. I fish bigger water most of the time. If it's within your budget, go with the 1890 or X190. You won't be disappointed. It's easier IMHO to downgrade from a bigger boat than it is to upgrade. However, this is just my opinion. Which ever Tuffy you choose will definitely make you happy. |

| having fished a number of the mid-size lakes that you'll be on, as well L Ontario and the St Lawrence, my thoughts are that if i was spending most of my time on the big lake i'd lean towards the 1890 with a full windshield. if i was on the mid-sized lakes and rivers most of the time, the 1760 and the X190 would both be very well suited, and can definitely handle the occasional big water trips. they're also great for jumping on some of the smaller lakes as well...make a run to Saranac or L Placid and show the old wooden Cris Craft owners what a new boat can do! lol...

| I have never been in a 1760 Tuffy but I had a Lund Mr Pike 17 and I would take this on Mille Lacs and Lake Pepin and it handled it, the ride well and it was a little wet!
I would suspect the 1760 Tuffy would run circles around the Mr Pike on bigger waters, and do it smoothly and drier. |

Ram makes two trolling motor sizes, a standard, which is 7 1/2 inches tall, then they make a tall model, which is 11inches tall. Go with the 11 and you'll be perfectly fine. That's what you'll need. Here is the link Cabelas on which one.

I think either the G series or the gunnel model you'll like. There both great. I really liked the 1760 DW because it was perfect size in the fact I could get it in smaller lakes as well as the ability to use it on big water. It's a shorter boat that has a big water attitude. Then add that 150 Opti on it and man that rig is set beautifully! You should manage easily 50mph hour with the 150 Opti, can't go wrong. If you have any other questions, let me know. I actually miss that boat in the pictures above when I look at those. However, I do like the X190 for what I do a little better.

| thanks shep... Talked to Steve last night... Going to the bank soon to figure this out... here is my dilema... boat and price is the easiest part. both are good. I will be putting in some leg work on this... another problem... already paying on a broken boat, so to be a 2 boat owner till I sell that one is gonna be a risk... another problem, nov, here in upstate ny, snow is ready to fly... Add the fact that I'm buying this sight unseen... kinda scary...
So with all that in the pot, I'm stirring that around, throw in some beer and I'm looking good for having that Tuffy for next spring... We spent time last night looking at all the pics available, she likes the open set up, says the boat looks small but she thinks the guy in it is also huge! I fished for 9 years in a 18-6 champion, I think the room will be similar...
Also checked out my sonar and Trolling motor choices in Cabelas last night...
I'm going for it, you'll be all in the loop. |

| Thanks guys, that picture from the tuffy get together is now the background on my computer... been through the video clip... If it says tuffy on the net, I've seen it!
I was hoping maybe somebody had a pic hiding somewheres from the get together...
Get together sounds nice... 2000 mile round trip kinda kills that for me...
I'll have to have a northeast get together at the thousand islands next Oct... big musky time up there then...
Cleaned the beer outa the fridge pretty good last night after the bank... I'm thinkin' a check is going west next week... scary stuff on a boat i've never even seen in person... everybody here has been a great help...
So now my thoughts go to rigging... Maxxum 80# 50" should be good was also thinking that removeable base that MK has ??? universal sonar... gonna put my old X-15 up front... (love that sonar!)
Dash will be a higher end X-113 or 28... tossing around Hummingbird SI though... ??? anybody?
3 delco batteries, maybe Optimas, always had good luck with the delcos and can get them easy... Charger that I'm gonna rig portable... some rod straps and I'll be good to go next April...
Oh yeah, still gotta sell boatzilla... not gonna be fun...

| yup, over 5 weeks now... still working on it, deer season here so I'm working everyday till everybody comes back... doesn't leave much time for scrounging money... I'm at 65% total of what I need... tough part is, i can't go to a dealer and trade it in, gotta buy this baby from fiberdome... makes things difficult... that tuffy is still my background though, I'm not giving up... |
