Wow,

I wasn't going to even consider a league event next year, but the Petenwell event has me reconsidering. It's now a Wisconsin Circuit again. The playing field has been leveled.

2 on Bago? You mean one League event plus one Tour event?

Not that it makes a huge difference, but the FLW site lists Oshkosh as the host for the Winnebago League event, not Fond du Lac.

That's my typo. The press release on their site has the schedule in there as a picture, so I couldn't just copy/paste it on WC. I had to type that part in. Then I copy/pasted the press release here.

I am unable to edit my posts on this site for some reason....even though I am logged in? I dunno?

Anyway, I typed in Fond du Lac, cuz when I think of Winnebago I think of Fond du Lac. I used to do a lot of camping there at Kalbus....which is FDL.

Petenwell was a great idea, if their goal was a 50 boat field.

Actually I think going back to Petenwell is a big plus and will help keep the participation levels up. The fact its in May is also positive.

Let's look at the numbers they had 87 in 2007. I'm pretty sure 87 is greater than 50. 2006 they had 84, which is also greater than 50. Explain to me Newbie, how they will only have 50.

The numbers were growing and close to a full field. Please let me know how your math works, I'm dying to know.

Lake Wissota - there is no minimum length on walleye, but walleye from 14 to 18 inches may not be kept and only 1 walleye over 18 inches may be kept...

Are these regulations set to expire or did the FLW knowingly plan an event on a body of water with regulations this tight?

Do you think the FLW is going to let anglers weigh 13 inch walleye? Or will the just reduce the bag limit to two fish per boat? I'm all for taking events to new water, but why fish a place that has such tight restrictions?

Lake Wissota. Wow, now that is something to ponder. I have experience on that lake, and really like it for eyes. Muskies aren't bad there either.

The Pete in May will be a different bite for sure. Look to Thumper's return to the FLW League this year, and he will be in the hunt for WI AOY is my prediction.

I'm trying to get my wife to sponsor me again, but she's trimming down her Pro Staff. I really missed not doing it last year, and would love to get back in this year. Hopefully I can swing it. Some good finishes in the ice fishing tournaments this winter may sway her to the good side.

I love the fact that they went back to Petenwell. That place is a blast to fish. Having it in May will put the entire main lake in play, really spreading guys out. This schedule also lets more guys like myself who don't have the best "big water" boats feel a bit more comfortable. Also glad to see their giving the Heartland guys another year. I hope more guys take advantage of it. As for the Championship, I'm in the APBTM boat (Any Place But The Mississippi)(sorry Marshall). Wissota will be neutral ground for most guys, and sounds fine to me. I'm sure glad I didn't officially retire like Shep!

Dave

Yes, it was nice to see the commitment to the heartland league again, though not sure what folks were thinking with the mississippi day event the same day as the IWT.

Can I vertical jig in Wissota? HA!

That's fine Dave. I don't mind not having all those extra boats around this time of year when we have a lights out bite going on.

I'm a bit of a scrounge bite fisherman so the championship looks good to me, but I really only plan on doing the Petenwell event. As I've said for the last year, I just wanted one event not on Green Bay or Bago to level the playing field.

I'm glad they chose Petenwell, but would've been just as happy with a Minoqua chain or Wissota as a WI event. The other event I would like to do, but doubt I will is the Rathbun event. I really liked that lake, even though I made poor decisions that knocked me out of a good finish.

Yes, you can vertical jig on Wissota. It connects to the  Chippewa River. Lots of river like areas to jig fish, either vertical; pitch; roll; you name it.

After not making the championship by mere points last season, someone is awful cocky or should I say confident before he's even wet a line? LOL, jk. Hope to see you all there, so I can take mugshots of all of you.
