What is the procedure for reserving an island camp site? What about water and sanitation issues?

Location: Green Bay | On state owned, it's first come first serve, you can't call ahead, but you can pitch a tent and save it that way, but there is a 10 day limit for staying on the islands and that includes any day a tent is up. The tribe has a bunch of sites on the east end, not the greatest site, the pit toiets are alittle to be desired, but for $20 you can reserev a site, I'd suggest, holy isalnd and Loon point for tribe sites, good fishing nearby and good pit toliets, Cedar swamp island is pretty good too, but a haul from the best fishing. all the sites should have pit toliets, the state has the best ones, a throne with a view bring in your water or boil it from the lake, the landing on CC has water and flush toliets, bathing?? el natural, skinny dip with a bar of ivory, that'll wake ya up in the spring...zoinks!! a DNR link: http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/facilities/chippewaflow/

Most of my trips to the Chip have been family vacations. So, haven't ever considered camping which my son and I enjoy. But, the idea is very attractive.

Location: Elgin, Illinois | Phishy,
I am hardly new to camping.... 6 years as a Cub Scout Leader/Trainer... 8 years with the Boy Scouts and an Assistant Scoutmaster and Adult Trainer. Everything from Philmont (3), The Boundary waters canoe area (2), Summer camp (backpacking to wagon camping)... ad nauseum (sometimes). hat does not count my own youth experience. My (now 28yrs old) son is an Eagle Scout anbd Youth Trainer... So, between us we have the "idea" of what we are looking at...
We just haven't had the time for the last 10 years (start-up business for me and college, law school and a new job for him). So, I am out of the loop for good places. Your Pics made me "homesick" for the Chip and renewed a desire to camp.

Location: Green Bay | Well get out and there get camping!!
I've grown old and fat myself, I used to do countless miles in da BWCA, Porkies, Sylavania (sp?) etc, da nice ting bout da chip, you have a boat to do the paddleing, and you get to fish!! out of a canoe it sems like your always moving to the next site, very little time to wet a line, funny how priorites change as we get older, eh?!
