Picked up a container of this borax/salt cure stuff. firecure.com. Was thinking about giving it a shot. Seen an old episode where linder had his minnows in sawdust and zip lock.

Pat Schuette and I used some stuff call bait sauce on cranks on Lake Erie. It might not have been a fair test, as we could've caught fish that particular trip on spark plugs w/hooks, but we caught fish on lures with and without scent, at no particular better or worse pace than before. I know Mark Martin is a proponent of using scent on lures, especially in cold water conditions. I can't see why cured bait wouldn't work.

As a kid, we used to spray our plastics with WD-40 before we pitched them out for Lake MI perch. The perch always seemed to hit better on the scented plastic.
