| Operation Muskie was created as a way to say "Thank You" to our men and women who have served this great nation in our recent conflicts. We live our lives daily due to the sacrifices made by these soldiers. What better way to show our support and appreciation by bringing them to one of the most beautiful places in the world for some world class fishing and friendship.
Operation Muskie II dates have been set!!! The Operation will take place from June 29 - July 3 2009. Once again, hosted by Walsh's Bay Store Camp, "The best little muskie camp on the lake" according to Dick Pearson! All of our guides are returning for year 2, and we will have 20 new vets in camp to participate.
Here is the link: http://www.operationmuskie.org/
This is a great cause, and a way to help show our appreciation to those who give so much to ensure our freedom. There is a live auction for guide dates and lures, and more on MuskieFirst tonight, Wedensday, Starting at 7PM CST.
I'll buy breakfast at Jackies, Sunday morning of Icebreaker IV, for anyone that donates $50 to Operation Muskie. See you at 6:15AM. That is March 15th.
And thanks.

| thanks for helping out, Shep!
as mentioned, the live auction is tonight starting at 7pm in the MuskieFirst chatroom.
there are 30 numbered "lots" of items up for bid...including guide trips with the likes of Dick Pearson and Doug Johnson, resort stays, and lots of great fishing gear!
*** for you walleye guys, there's even a couple of resort stays for walleye opener in central and northern MN!
it will run like a traditional auction: one at a time, i'll announce the item that's up and people can post competitive bids.
after some cajoling, i'll call the item for final bids, close it, and award it to the highest bidder.
take a few minutes to review the list of items:
http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=23
and then join us at 7pm CST in the chatroom:
http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/chat/
these auctions are usually a ton of fun to both watch and participate. see you there tonight!

| Thought I would bring this back to the top. As it is a very important topic for the conservation of our fisheries and those that protect our freedom.
The boys continue to beat up on the old man. I taught me kids how to fish for Walleyes and while they all continue to kick my but in that arena. I continue to lecture them about quality vs. quanty as I often boat more then they do,(haha) it never ceases to amaze me that they finish up the day with the quality award! Here's Chase's recent award winning fish. MAN I LOVE TO SEE THOSE EXPRESSIONS!
Good Luck

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | Argghhh, I missed the post and the auction. Shep, if you're part of organizing the event, shoot me an early reminder next year and I'll make some cool custom donations.
My hats off to the organizers! I have a real soft spot for our servicemen and women.

| Jim,
I am not one of the organizers of Operation Muskies. Just a donator and supporter. I also had nothing to do with the Muskiefirst auction.
I will forward your name and email to Dick Pearson and Brett Wold. I am sure they will contact you. It's never too late to donate, so you could probably offer sonmething up for sale here, and pass along the proceeds to Operation Muskie. That is how I did it, and I was able send $500 this year.
Again, this does not benefit muskies, but does offer a great opportunity to say thank you to some of our troops that have put themselves in harms way.

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | Thanks. If anyone has a good real muskie lure or two, new or used, I'll paint it up and we'll auction it off for the Operation. I'll supply the paint, new hooks/rings, and shipping. |

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | I don't know off hand. I'd have to check with a few muskie buddies. I'm cheap. LOL I just use customized Bare Nakeds behind boards for muskie here. Did boat 3 over 30# last year with that set-up. |
