Any dealers out there still have a 1760T or GT in stock? I currently have my 1700 GC up for sale with the intent to upgrade to a 1760 tiller. I have an idea on what price the other fiberglass brands 17'-6" tillers are going for right now, what would I be looking at roughly with the Tuffy? (matching fiberglass fender trailer not necessary) I can see why the new ones sell right away and no one is trying to get rid of their used. The 1760 IMHO has by far the best floor & storage layout out of all tillers fiberglass or aluminum.

Thanks guys

Yes, there is a 1760 GT in a dealer's stock all ready to rock. This picture was taken at the Madison Fishing Expo last weekend. Contact Steve Worrall at his office 800.359.4416. He will assist you.

contact a Tuffy dealer for pricing and availability.
http://www.tuffyboats.com/dealer.asp

Tuffy is well positioned to custom make your boat to fit your needs: model, colors, etc.; the dealer network can also work with Tuffy to get access to existing rigs from other dealers or show demos from the factory.

Bob Lloyd of Mr. Marine was working the Tuffy booth at the Madison show:
http://mrmarineinc.com/

so was Mike Lewandoski of Marine Diversified:
http://www.lake-link.com/businesses/business.cfm?BusinessID=739

either of them could talk to you about a 1760GT.

Lambeau, very cool to see Tuffy wouldn't cut the throats of their dealers and sell direct!! Very cool. In this day and age it seems everybody tries to knife their dealers in the back and grab the sales. (I'm not specifically talking boat dealers)

Tuffy's company policy (or so it seems) to protect their dealers will pay big dividends in the future, keep up the good work. Funny other distributors and builders don't see the oblivious. (Again not talking specifically about the marine industry)

I saw that boat at the Madison Expo. I was pretty impressed with the rig. The only thing I would change is to go with the regular 1760T instead of the 1760 GT. That's just my personal prefference though.

I like mounting rails for my rod holders, and having a big gunnel to work with. I can see the plus side to the extra room though. When I get ready to buy a boat again, the 1760T will be on my short list. Worrall may have me convinced that the X190 T with a 90 Opti may be the ultimate river rig. I reccently went back to a tiller, and love the control.

Give a dealer a call and they'll set you up with a test ride (assumming there's open water).

The 1760 GT in the image belongs to Boulder Marine Center and will be delivered there soon. If the customer wants to see that one, he may call Mike at Boulder at 715.385.2177 or attend the Minneapolis Muskie Expo, that boat will be on display there. If anyone would like to see a different stock boat for immediate availability, I'd be happy to speak with the customer and make a few calls to see what can be done to help him see one at a local dealer's showroom. As far as I know, there are no other 1760 GT models in the field at this time ( all have been sold), but there IS one coming down the pipe now.

Tommy We've got a new 1760GT coming off the line now. Call me at 1-262-206-3045 or e-mail at [email protected] with the specifics on what you're looking for and I can shoot you a price. Also, if your 1700 hasn't sold yet, give me the details. I've got a roster of potential buyers that didn't get to buy the used one that I took in on trade last month. Mike M.D. Services

Thanks to all for taking the time to give me some good info. I live in St.Paul, MN and I see that there is a dealer in Red Wing but havn't seen anything with their inventory. So other than them I guess it is a ring toss for who would be next as far as location? I guess first things first, making some emails/calls. Can't wait to get into another Tuffy! Thanks again for the help!

Tuffy I believe will have boats at the Musky Expo in April, West End Sports can get you a boat, they don't stock much for Tuffy's, that is where I got mine, they have a 1890 and a magnum I believe. The next closest I think is in Holman down by La Crosse, nice time to take a drive along the river to see the Eagles:), I think they have a better stock

I am set on 1760GT over anything else no matter what, but just out of curiosity from people who own this model with a 75 4 stroke, what are some of your performance related findings? Top speed, troll speed, hole shot, handling, etc. I know I have seen a few pics of a real sharp looking '08 (I think) white combo of sorts 1760GT that has a 75 yamaha and runs on the Mississippi posted somewhere on this site. That would be pretty much the same set up as what I will be getting into. Comments from you?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

this link might be interesting for you:
http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=26...

in 2006 i ran a 1760GT with a 70hp Suzuki motor. it ran mid-30s if i recall correctly, and i could troll down under 2mph very easily.
the only limitation i had was that the Suzi did not have good low-end torque, so it was boggy getting up on plane. a different kind of motor with a better gear ratio, or possibly the use of a whale-tail would probably be good.
i know a lot of people run the 1760T (with full cap) with 75hp Optimax motors and have great performance.

it's an awesome boat, and very versatile. you're sure to love it.

I have a 1760GC, single console with a 150hp Opti and a 9.9 kicker. Last Saturday I was getting 49mph with a large sized passenger and a full tank of gas. Turning up to 5800-5900 RPMs at top end speed. The hole shot is impressive to say the least.

The fastest I have gotten her was 51.5 with just me and 3/4 of a tank of gas.

Of all the things I might note that I would like to see changed or modified on my boat, it's handling and performance are not in that list. It's fast, quick out of the hole, and a safe ride even in 5-6' waves on Lake Michigan (though I do NOT advise tackling these kinds of conditions except if you're already out or get called for Coast Guard S&R).

Oops, just re-read the question. SORRY!

You might need to reprop. 5800-5900 is over the max RPM limit of the motor. That will go even higher as you use fuel and lose weight. Best to be careful. That would explain the your awesome holeshot, though.

Of all the things you'd like to see changed? Please expound.

I do see the new specs are 5250 -5750 Max RPM. Used to 5500 for the 150 Opti. Not sure when they changed it. It is listed on the sticker on the back of the motor mount. I would check it to ensure you are not over too much.

Thanks for the heads-up Mr. Shep. The wrench that does all my work did say however that I need to be in that 5600-5800 RPM range. I'll do a little research on it.

What prop are you using now? I bet a pitch higher, and you'll be right where you need to be. My guy sets up my boats to be at Max with just me and a light load, and half fuel. Load makes less of a difference as the HP of the motor increases. My 135 saw a bigger drop in WOT RPM's as I added people and load than does my 200. Food for thought.

Here is an 2008 leftover at Holmen Marine- www.holmenmarine.com

It is a 1760 Osprey GC with 150 25" E-Tec. Call and ask for Bill Sibley (608-526-3345) in sales. He can get you set up right and negotiate a VERY good price on this boat for you. It has the full Lowrance package including I-Command gauging. Here is the link with photo:

TOMMYK,my son has an'04 1760 Esox Deep V tiller.I believe the hull is basically the same.He bought this boat used last spring. It had no motor on it.We anguished over which motor to put on it.Our fear was that it would be underpowered with a 4-stroke. Since he uses the motor for trolling and for hovering above wingdams on the Miss, we thought the 4-stroke will be a better choice. He bought the Yamaha 75 w/VTS. I'm happy to say he is delighted with the fishability of the motor and the perforance is suprisingly good.He still has the stock 15" al. 3-blade it came with.It jumps right out of the hole and runs at 6100rpms w/half a tank of fuel,3 batteries, livewells full, fat old man and all his gear.It is no way underpowered. The GPS says 41 but I don't think so. I would guess 36-37. The hull is great, too. He was perch fishing on Lake Michigan,Sunday when the wind blew up.He came in same and dry.

fibtat,
Sounds like the Yamaha 4 stroke with the VTS makes a good rig! That is the exact motor I am considering. By the way, is the boat a green polyflake with gold accent combo. I think I seen that boat selling a while back with nomotor. Sharp looking boat. Thanks for the info!

I have an 08 1760 gt with a 75 yamaha. 34 is the fastest I've seen on the gps. I still have the standard 13 1/2" by 15 aluminum prop. Hole shot is great with just me and is actually not too bad with 3 guys. By far the best layed out 17 1/2 footer on the market. I live an hour west of the Twin Cities and ordered mine through wild river in trego wi. Red Wing was closer but they only carried mercs.

TOMMYK,that's the one! Thanks for not buying it! He wanted too much money but accepted my son's offer. We drove 9 hours to pick it up.The only tillers bigger then 16' in my area are Lunds.Been there, done that,no thanks! The '04 is probaby lighter then the '08 so maybe a bit faster. If 34mph is what does that's fine. It goes slow very well. That's why the kid bought a tiller. We go fast in my Tuffy.
Do the tiller boats have a 20" or 25" transom? I believe Tuffy will custom build a 25" transom and rate it for 90hp.This gives you a Suzuki option.
